Interstellar

High-Level Project Summary

Earth is like a small town with many neighbourhood in a very big universe. There are many possibilities out there. By taking up this challenge, we want to sow the seeds of curiosity in the children about space, planet and earth. Today, we can tell the story about nasa water science and sing a song to the younger generation and inspire them to become scientist.

Detailed Project Description

We all live on Earth, a planet that is believed to be the only astronomical object known to harbour and support life. We'd never have the chance to look at the earth closely from outer space if it is not because of space exploration and NASA. Is there any connection between earth science with the space out there?

In Sibu, we have Rejang river, which is the longest river in Malaysia. Rajang river originates in the Iran mountains, flows through Kapit, and then towards the South China Sea.

On June 16, 2016, we can see unique drainage patterns which is sake-like nature and sharp T-shape junctions.

Have you ever wonder where does this water come from? The Hubble Space Telescope peered into the Helix Nebula and found water molecules.

Over billions of years, countless comets and asteroids have collided with Earth. each time they bring more and more water to Earth.Over 70 percent of ocean is currently occupying the Earth.Due to effect of global warming, the ocean is expanding. Ocean levels are currently rising at the rate of 0.13 inches per year. This may pose risk to low lying coastal area. NASA has been monitoring the changes of sea levels.

This image show that the equatorial Pacific sea surface levels are higher, indicating warmer sea surface temperatures in the central and west Pacific Ocean.

Venus used to be the first ocean world in our solar system billions of years ago.But Venus lacks of strong global magnetic field.A runaway greenhouse effect increased temperatures which eventually causes all water escaped into space due to the solar wind.

Earth isn’t the only ocean world in our solar system. Water can be found on moons, dwarf planets, and even comets. Kepler-22b is the first planet in a confirmed orbit in a star's habitable zone. The liquid water could persist on its surface.

We do compose a song based on lyric for the song 'Earth' by Lil Dicky. The lyric is edited from the web novel ' https://www.nasa.gov/specials/ocean-worlds/ ' .We use voloco and capcut apps to write the song. This song is about the love for earth and the knowledge about ocean.

Children are the hope and future of the world. We want to let children taking part in the space science and NASA science activities. The kids are the stars!

This is our team presentation.

Sometimes you have to go up really high to understand how small you really are - Felix Baumgartner

Space Agency Data

We use NASA image and video library to develop our idea and story. By typing the keywords, we find and filter the relevant pictures.

Example :

1.Earth - India and Australia

2.Comet ISON Passes Through Virgo

3.Ocean Surface Topography Mission/Jason 2 Artist Concept

4.Astronaut Scott Parazynski is prepares to be submerged in the WETF

5.Comets Kick up Dust in Helix Nebula

6.Pacific Dictates Droughts and Drenchings

7.Venus - Computer Simulated Global View of the Northern Hemisphere

8.Closer to Finding an Earth Artist Concept

To find the story materials, we do read about NASA ocean worlds. Our song lyric also based on the materials in the NASA ocean worlds.

Hackathon Journey

This is an amazing Space Apps experience for all of us. We attend various workshop. For examples, video editing, Powerapps, python, story telling and game development with unity. These fruitful and mind-blowing sessions are indeed helping us to further develop our ideas. We believe that children are the hope and future of the world. That is why it is important to plant the seeds of curiosity in them since they are young, Hence, we have decided to choose the challenge which is discovering the science connections. We face some challenges when doing this project. For example, cannot discuss face-to-face due to the pandemic.  Thanks for technology. we still manage to meet using Google Meet and WhatsApp to have our discussion. Another problem is the time frame. We are actually racing against time when we have to rush everything in order to beat the deadline. Special thanks to the organising committee, Realfun Learning Centre and Teacher Teo. We want to thank our teacher, Madam Anna Lee because of the opportunity she has given us to join her team for the space apps challenge. It is a challenge that we are willing to take and an opportunity we can't miss. Last but not least, we want to thank our parents for supporting us and all the fellow group members, Anndyson Tubam , Githson Jerah and Mosses Ranggau for the tireless efforts in making sure this project is a success. Guys, we made it!
