Durbar

High-Level Project Summary

With millions of people dislocating each year, one burning question remains in our head (as we are a host country for refugees as well), "How do we house such an influx of people quickly?" We plan to answer this question with our hardware, Durbar.Durbar will fly over an open area and give housing plans for displaced and dislocated people while strategically planning the houses and distribution hubs.In a usual setting, it can take days or weeks to finalize a camp layout and to start building it. We want to cut that time in half. In doing so, dislocated people or refugees will have a safe place to breathe and live in.

Detailed Project Description

The drone will fly over uninhabited or potential campsite areas and then give a basic plan of the campsite possible to be built there. It will do so by machine learning and studying data of existing campsites to form prototype models. It will also do mapping of the areas in which refugees will be housed to look out for natural hazards.

Given the signals of a natural calamity, It will also look for the number of people to give shelter to once it receives information about possible areas being struck with the natural disaster. It will give relief workers a headstart to know approximately how many people they'll be dealing with.

This will give dislocated and displaced people a safe shelter to live in, and it'll do the work quickly.

With our drones, we hope the time taken to map out and plan strategic housing will be decreased to half.

We will use drones to implement our design and we will use NASA's satellite data about upcoming natural disasters as signals.

Hackathon Journey

The Nasa space app challenge helped us execute the plan that we thought only about. Working with a team full of variations was quite a learning experience.

From the journey, I learned the value of teamwork and empathy is dedicated to a common target.

The Inspiration came from our country Bangladesh as our country faces many Natural calamities, thus many people get dislocated and it gets tougher for the government to keep the track of dislocated people. Not only our country but also many places of the other countries face these issues, From this problem we got inspired and thought to work on it.

Through collecting data from Nasa's website we approached this project.

Gathering all the data and making it full-proof was the biggest challenge we faced. Also, lack of physical communication and confusion about making the video was a setback for us.

Firstly, I would like to thanks all the mentors and guides who helped and notified us when it was needed, then I would like to give thanks to my teammates for being night-owls and for their dedication.
