EcoDrone Survailance

High-Level Project Summary

Our idea is to create a drone or a group of them which scan the environment for dangerous pollutants. Such as ozone, sulfur oxides, carbon dioxide, fine dust particles and others. They would be equiped with a GPRS module to sent the collected data to the docking station. Where they would land after passing through the precisely calculated route. There they would recharge their batteries wirelessly.

Detailed Project Description

The docking stations will be fenced with a width, length and height of ~1 m required for safe landing and take-off.

Accordingly, the structure will have a built-in foldable roof, which will unfold itself in case of detected too low temperature or bad weather conditions. It will be provided with the designated resources such as heat sensors.

On the other hand, transmitters will be needed to act as receivers that use antennas to sense the frequency of the signal emitted by the drone. Then all the values wold be uploaded straight to our database via another GPRS module.

The drone is supposed to reach the end of the signal radius, taking into account obstructive objects such as buildings, homes and other facilities of the typical urban environment. Then it would circle back to the docking station.

We will provide a large signal radius to reach the drones so that we do not have any incidents such as crashing into a building, an accidental bird or trees.

We hope that our project would help save the environment. We believe it would help the relevant authorities make an informed decision and act as soon as possible!

Space Agency Data

We were inspired by https://earthdata.nasa.gov/earth-observation-data/near-real-time/hazards-and-disasters/air-quality and https://worldview.earthdata.nasa.gov/. These resources helped us built our idea.

Hackathon Journey

Our team worked in harmony, as we considered all of the member's ideas. Till the very last moment we were making progress and we always tried to help one another to reach as close as possible to our goal.
