Qhawaq: The path of water from the sky

High-Level Project Summary

The natural environment where society moves, conditions the growth of a city, since the various projects that are developed are subject to this environment, as well as to all the natural phenomena that arise within it. Water and its behavior is one of the main elements to study and know, since it directly influences the various projects that are developed, as well as being an element of study in the territorial planning strategies of a city. In this sense, our proposal offers a tool that provides a preliminary hydrological analysis for the various projects in a city. This tool is a GEOVISOR.

Detailed Project Description

In this sense, our proposal offers a tool that provides a preliminary hydrological analysis for the various projects in a city. This tool is a GEOVISOR that simulates the interaction: precipitation - relief and provides a preliminary hydrological analysis, through the analysis of data promoted by satellites and complemented with the use of drones.

introduction

The urban development of a population has always been conditioned to the natural environment where it is developed, since the construction of the various projects, as well as the habitability of the population itself, are subject to its natural environment. Among the various elements found in the natural environment, there is the existence of water, and that is how hydrology was born. Hydrology is a science that studies the behavior, occurrence and circulation of water in relation to the environment and the living beings that will interact in it, for this reason, understanding the hydrology of the area where the different projects of a city move is vitally important. Thus, a Geovisor is presented that allows obtaining the hydrological analysis of an area of interest, where the information provided is taken and analyzed based on the data provided by satellites and the application of drones. This tool will allow to have a previous hydrological analysis, which allows users to obtain preliminary information for the analysis of the various projects in the development of cities.

Developing

A web geovisor is presented that allows obtaining a preliminary hydrological analysis of an area of interest, based on the data provided by satellites and by drones.

This Geovisor collects, stores and processes information on the climatology, topography and multispectral images of NASA satellites, using images, variables, and climatological data from the satellites for index calculations and hydrological modeling of an area of interest, through the combination of bands and the use of algorithms that perform an analysis in conjunction with the additional topographic information provided by drones. In this way, a preliminary hydrological analysis is generated as a product through a friendly and interactive interface of the user's areas of interest for planning their projects.

Analysis Procedure

For a point of interest in the territory, the maximum water flow is determined from the analysis of meteorological information and the digital model of the surface offered by NASA multispectral images, incorporating georeferenced drone information.

For this prototype, we consider a main menu. You can enter the platform as a guest or as a registered user. GUEST option is disable. We continue the demo with USER option.

Management of the Geovisor Interface

Thanks to obtaining a preliminary hydrological analysis, the different projects that are proposed for the development of a city can be planned and projected more efficiently, thus helping to guarantee functionality. Thanks to this Geovisor also, the user is provided with the information of the satellites in a more accessible and friendly way, where he can find the information he needs quickly.

Once entering as a USER and logging in with your account, the following image will appear. We have three levels for our community. Next, we will detail some of the tools that appear in our project.

  1. Return to the Main Menu
  2. Home: Show the world map
  3. Layers
  4. Sectorize: We can define the area with marks and add additional information like meteorology
  5. Add drone images
  6. Zoom in
  7. Zoom out
  8. Qhawaq Chat Box
  9. Settings
