Miner Drone

High-Level Project Summary

This drone was built to control the rate at which illegal mining is practiced. Illegal mining can destroy habitats for aquatic animals, river bodies in general and the land at which such mining activities are carried on which can be a major threat to humans. This drone captured high resolution videos of places where illegal mining are carried out and places where illegal mining can be carried out and stored on a cloud server where people responsible for controlling illegal mining can use such surveillance to carry out their duties. Other devices like the phone or a camera or even a car with a camera can be used for this but a drone can cover a large area of land without being detected.

time-of-flight sensors

In this project, data in the form of pictures, coordinates will be captured by the device and recorded with the help of the device’s camera. Data will be sent to the user in real time with the help of the GPS module.

With WaziUp Technology, these data to be sent to a cloud network (WaziCloud) and using API calls, that information will be sent to our mobile app. WaziupCloud

Space Agency Data

We used data from sciencedirect.com which gets all it's data from NASA's database to look at the damage that illegal mining has done to the environment and that motivated us to build this drone to help the people responsible for the control of illegal mining to detect and protect lands that have been targeted by illegal miners

Hackathon Journey

My Space Apps experience was just amazing. I got to meet and work with new people. This Space Apps challenge has taught me how to create, draft and edit a project and I got to learn facts about the environment. I'd like to thank God first and I'd like to thank my group members for dedicating their time to building this drone and I'd also like to thank our coordinators for helping us handle difficulties above our strength.
