High-Level Project Summary

Skydronnet is responsible for making analysis of the images captured by the drone, with such images we can make 3d or 2d plans to help us create more precise and safe plans either for the construction of buildings, it is also able to identify streets in poor condition, air quality, fires, pollutants, among many other functions. And this is even easier and faster since we have the data provided by satellites, which provide us in advance those areas in which it is concentrated either pollution, deforestation, poverty, among others, so the drone can go to those areas and perform a deeper analysis that we can complement with existing data, so as to face many problems.

Detailed Project Description

SKYDRONNET

Skydronnet collects images or videos, which are used to obtain orthophotographs as 2d or 3d ortho mosaics, 3d models of a specific area, digital models of elevations, with this data makes it easier to build structures or remodeling of the area, analyzes the images or videos thus detecting if they are people or objects, being able to identify places where there is accumulated garbage, deforestations, theft, even able to detect fires.

Benefits: because it is able to differentiate between objects and people, in cases of accidents or natural disasters it can notify the appropriate authorities, thus facing problems such as lack of security, as well as being able to identify pollutants in these areas so that plans can be created to reduce the impact of pollution, among others.

We hope that this prototype will be taken into account for future projects and to be able to solve effectively and quickly the social problems of the world. Thus reducing risks in different areas, protecting the common good thus making it safer for the citizenry, with its multiple applications in different branches.

The language we use is python for what is machine learning to identify the objects or people that are in the images.

EXPLANATION

-Traffic

Software (DataFromSky)

For SKYDRONNET it would be essential this DataFromSky software has the function of recording, analyzing and extracting data. It is a two-phase process: first we use the drones to record the traffic of people or vehicles, and then we use their analysis software to analyze the resulting videos and extract the data.

On the other hand, in the case of night recordings, a camera called a fisheye is used, which is capable of having night filters or calibrations in the video analyzes to avoid too pronounced distortions.

Adding to the previous point that DataFromSky does not intervene in identifying a vehicle on a personal level but rather gives an identifier number to analyze its movement determining its type of transport. For example motorcycles, cars, pedestrians and trucks differentiated using a heat map to observe the speeds of a means of transport.

We can mention that the software is capable of detecting if an accident is likely to occur by measuring the distance from one vehicle to another.

Using this technology that not only detects means of transport or people in movement but is able to perceive, for example, free parking spaces through sensors with red and green lights that warn you of which spaces are free.

-Security

Software (Pix4D)

Pix4D software provides the best security where it is possible thanks to the evolution of technology, which has made the development of cameras and sensors less in size and weight.

Therefore, helping in the search for people, given its ease by the 4K camera and thermal camera. In this way we can prevent people from directly exposing themselves to danger.

-Topography

 It allows you to accurately determine the positions of the points ina 2d or 3d space, as well as the distances between them. They provide essential information for making informed decisions ranging from the planning of a work or cadastral subdivision, to the design and maintenance of infrastructures, among others.

Depending on the sensors and topography software you choose, drone topography allows you to generate different types of useful data in many sectors.

The topography software can use hundreds or even thousands of digital photographs taken by the drone to compose a single image and produce high-quality 2d ortho Mosaic maps.

At each stage of the construction process, the laser models or high-resolution 3d photogrammetry captured by the drones can be superimposed or compared with the pre-planned objects. This makes it possible to identify discrepancies between planning and reality.

Early detection of these problems can reduce construction problems, as well as omission and repetition of tasks. Also, the ability to get an overview of the project has made drones an essential part of modern construction.

-Atmosphere

The information the SKYDRONNET captures it in a route traced over the river, thanks to the integrated Machine Learling it is able to detect irregular indicators that it presents, such as a different color of water tone in the history of the flow, variations in the dimensions, a difference in current. With these data the SKYDRONNET will analyze the stream, thus being able to detect pollutants, solid waste and even rule out the presence of stagnation by natural dams or caused by excess garbage, in this way it will be possible to prevent floods, water heads and reduce the risk of the inhabitants close to the risk area.

This is also applicable in coastal areas, using the same system you can protect the integrity of the coasts in this way reduces pollution in the ocean, in addition to this it has the ability to detect oil spill and calculate the area of contamination, too. It is capable of analyzing the mangroves and calculating the risks to which it is exposed, in order to extend the life of the mangroves that protect the coasts.

  • Air quality

Excess aerosol emissions are monitored in this way, it is known where that aerosol comes from.

Collectively measure CO2 concentrations in exact hours, in this way it could be possible to track vehicles that exceed the CO2 and carbon monoxide emission limit.

  • Ecosystems

SkyRunner has thermal cameras, which can be used to measure the excess or deficit of water in the crops, in addition to this, with the multispectral camera system, areas and the vigor of the plants could be detected, in this way it is identified if there is stress in the crops and with the photogrammetric orthophotography system we will be able to know exactly in which space these failures have.

The need to send information to the corresponding identities in a private and direct way, arises the need for a fast and reliable system. That is why we have an RFID or Radio Frequency Identification system to transmit information in a simple way.

PROTOTYPE

-It can be made of a material called Graphene, which has multiple advantages compared to plastic, it is lighter and more durable.

-Its rechargeable battery can be made of this same material and will have photovoltaic cells to take advantage of solar energy.

-It has a resistance of 46 km / h, and the Steep Landin system can be implemented to facilitate its landing in confined spaces.

-This drone can be set with a 4k camera, and with thermal vision implementing the "fisheye".

-It will have a gps locator in case of any failure for maintenance or repair.

-It is suggested that it be an autonomous device programmed according to surveillance zones.

PLANS IN THE FUTURE

  • Drones have the ability to pass information without any problem in case a vehicle is moving at high speed and you do not lose sight of it.


  • Also, to be able to obtain more resolution to identify and the data can be visualized in a clear way. Finally, that the drone can obtain a height of 500 meters to have a greater view of the place.


  • Create a processor that can perform drone performance in order to have longer battery life and better resolution.


  • From our perspective that the drone has the ability to be autonomous, that is, it does not depend on someone driving it, it simply works on the previously established route. Another point, placing long-lasting batteries so that it is productive in the established hours. In addition to this, the drone collected the data and sent it on time to the national emergency cabins (police, firefighters, hospitals), in order to maintain national control of each one of the people.


  • Also, I can mention that the drone analyzes the critical state of the person, for example, a fracture or a muscle injury so that it prepares to attend to the situation indicated.

Hackathon Journey

We loved this experience because it helped us to expand our knowledge and face new challenges, the reason we chose this project is because we are interested in the issue of how we could use drones to deal with problems such as social injustice, natural disasters, among others.

 Our main approach was how to combine the data provided by different agencies with the data obtained by the drone to facilitate the work as plans for better development, safety, pollution, etc.

 Certainly the lack of time was a great challenge, however to solve this problem we divided the work to be able to speed up the development.

 We thank ourselves for keeping our focus and perseverance in not giving up on this challenge.
