Materials Science

High-Level Project Summary

To solve the problem of the massive parallel job queues-all at the execution of tools for novel alloys design and lack of accessibility of these ones, our team decided to create a user interface with the most relevant tools clasified by approach and in differents stages in the production of a new Material. Is important to optimize resources and time for the researches.

Detailed Project Description

By a core development in C language programing, we can integrate all tools in differents languages. We clasify all subtools in differents approaches and stages in the production of a new Material. Then all of these tools condensed in a core, all information is exposed as a web services that are cosumed by a front-end develpment in JAVA, because make it easily for any desktop S.O.

The core develpment in C, makes more quickly the instalatiion for necesary dependences. By this way, scientists should not install any other dependence, or third software.

Also when all tools are categorized, it will be more easily find a good approach or try with more that one. The project is modeled as a Object, so any stage is independent from each other, this GUI is a modular Open Source Software. Caused a big hit in the comunnity because the new tools, can added to the GUI by a simple way.

Thus the scientists can focus on important things.

Space Agency Data

To develop our solution, we got inspired by the open-source tools that were available at the NASA catalogue website software.nasa.gov/. And also, with the website of www.ctcms.nist.gov/potentials/ we could extract information about the different models that can be applied to an alloy and the properties of its composition. Finally, our mentor gave us this resource http://oqmd.org/analysis/phase_diagram/ so that we can get inspired to design the blueprint interface of our project.

Hackathon Journey

Was amazing. In my team we learned to resolved challenges in record time. We inspired in this challenge because the feel to help the science comunnity. The approach to develping this project was find a integral solution. This challenge showed me new skills about me and my team.
