High-Level Project Summary
The challenge required is to design a deployable crop production system capable of supporting the nutritional requirements of a crew of 4-6 on a transit mission to Mars and back to Earth. We looked at the previous solutions and saw the APH, but we found it to be complex and contain more than 180 sensors, so we decided to make a simpler project of growing the plant in artificial soil for its needs. We used electromagnets so we could stabilize the plant and put Archaea and give them their food to multiply and produce CH4, which would react with carbon dioxide to make the water needed for food to perform photosynthesis. Detailed Project Description
First, the project begins with doing something that can help to grow quantities of plants without resorting to foreign aid that costs a lot of money, and also improves the quality of plants, recycles water and makes use of any waste and things that are not used in order to benefit from them in the space park.
We will first use the electromagnet, which will help to do the work of a magnetic field of attraction in order to hold things firmly in their places, and also the auxiliary coming will work in the formation of interactions without defects
Then we come to the soil that has high fertility, Mollisols, which contains the best elements that the plant feeds on and sow the seeds in a certain area. We come to the product of the plant, which is oxygen, which we use in inhalation for the pioneers, and then we use the resulting carbon dioxide, which It will interact with the methane gas that will be produced from Archaea and feed it on animal dung, and then from this reaction, two water molecules will be produced and we will condense them and bring water again. The electricity that we lost, and then we come to purify the water to make it suitable for irrigating the land, and from here begins the machine that will distribute the water evenly on the soil so that there is no possibility of any waste of water
We also come to lighting, as the plant needs blue and red light that it takes from the sun, and we will provide these two lights with the presence of LED and neon lamps, which have proven their strength and superiority in producing red and blue light, and then we go to the most important thing, which is the sensor, which will determine the degree Heat and yield of the crop and the decay of the land is considered to be a farmer who evaluates the crop and also this device connects several things, including the machine for changing the heat that is found in the space vehicle and the water distributing machine, and also the most important thing is the plant treatment system in which medicine is stored for anything that happens in There is a device that monitors the movement of the chemical reaction so that no errors occur, such as the multiplication of bacteria in large quantities or the occurrence of anything in the interaction of carbon dioxide and methane, and there is also a processor that determines the amount of red and blue light
