High-Level Project Summary
We develop a semi-automatic system for the growth and care of agricultural products, through innovative methods, focused on in the aerospace sector with the aim of providing the greatest amount of food for long-term trips that complement the diet for a crew. up to 6 people. It solves the problem of satisfying the nutritional needs of the crew by supplying fresh products that remain attractive and nutritious. And is important because it provides a constant and wit good quality source of food.

Detailed Project Description
System that provides most part of the food for long-term trips, the crops were selected by a deep research based on their nutritional contributions, space required, cultivation method and production time. It is intended as a complementary source of food to achieve a complete diet for the crew.
The prototype is made with an automatic rotating shelf, each shelf will be equipped with Sunlite LED lights, crops will be placed in each shelf to be grown using the hydroponic technique, and other platform to make the crops grow by the aeropnic method, this will work with a microcontroller connected to a humidity sensor, to control the irrigation distribution, a temperature sensor to verify that the crop is in optimal conditions, as well, a camera to implement an AI service for image recognition so we can determine approximate times of harvesting and possible phytopathologies.
To implement the system, we first need to pass thru a germination process of the seeds, for this we use the "pillows", bags with the necessary nutrients for the growth of the germinated seed, and then we can transplant it to our system.
Space Agency Data
The space agency data used for this project was from the NASA, mostly related to the experiments already mentioned in the description of the challenge, like the Veggie and APH investigations, articles and videos, among other resources, to know and understand more about previous crop experiments for human consumption and for research in space. We also gathered information about space nutrition and the diet of crew members. All of this was helpful for us to design the crop variety, and to define the configuration and automation of the space used to grow and take care of these crops.
Hackathon Journey
With this hackaton Journey we've improved our researching skills and our level of writing. We also obtained a new perspective of how this projects are made to solve real problems on the journey to mars and in the exploration of the universe.
We chose the chose the challenge "Have seeds will travel!" because we are enthusiasts in space and sci-fi movies, and growing food in space is one step closer to see those movies become a reality.
Our approach in this project is to provide an effective system of food that met all the requirements so it could be a good solution.
Our biggest setbacks is the lack of members, with more memberes we could analyze more information so we could get a more detailed solution.
We would like to thank to all the people who make this events possible because let to people like us to reach a new perspective and experiences that otherwise would be impossible, and also to thank our members for the hard work and the interest of being part of the team.
