SEEDS MUST GROW!

High-Level Project Summary

We have developed a project of module that uses aeroponics for growing vegetables or healthy greens and application to control the capsule. It looks like a grow box placed on ISS module. Solves the problem of supplying vitamins and microelements in the daily diet of an astronaut; support the psychological health of the astronaut; remote control solution on Raspberry Pi; cosmonaut comfort.Our project now based on two links: https://seed-must-grow.herokuapp.com/capsules and https://www.figma.com/proto/jKdTvjWffcVQLPOCcCLzIz/NASA-space-app?page-id=0%3A1&node-id=135%3A1794&viewport=241%2C48%2C0.13&scaling=min-zoom&starting-point-node-id=2%3A2

Detailed Project Description

Our project can ensure - it's possible to rear seeds on ISS and use remote control for it.

  1. Develop the concept of a capsule module for solving the problem of growing vegetables for a team of 4-6 people and providing them with vitamins and microelements;
  2. Application written on Python (Django). Interface design in Figma.
  3. Use of lightweight material RXF1 - space plastic and lead, which can withstand heavy loads, for the construction of the capsule, it is possible to use a reverse radius centrifuge to create microgravity;
  4. Using a climate control camera when planting and germinating plants;
  5. Sensors for radiation monitoring, humidity, reverse osmosis systems, MLX90614 - infrared thermometer for non-contact temperature measurement;
  6. Raspberry Pi microcontroller for remote system control;
  7. Design part - https://www.figma.com/proto/jKdTvjWffcVQLPOCcCLzIz/NASA-space-app?page-id=0%3A1&node-id=142%3A2191&viewport=241%2C48%2C0.13&scaling=min-zoom&starting-point-node-id=2%3A2

Hackathon Journey

Our team inspired by Mars projects and Sci-Fi books.

What have we learned from participating in the Hackathon? - that we'll go further and gaining knowledge. Yes, knowledge is really needed, in different areas, it does not matter who you are and who you are considered to be - a humanist or a physicist. We'll develop this capsule project! And to be sure, we can do it.

How we solved the problems - we changed the approach, we looked at possibility of solving it differently. Thanks to the mentors for real consultations.
