"Team Name" 's entry for having seeds that will travel

High-Level Project Summary

We used an innovative tower garden aeroponic system to grow crops, such as potatoes and carrots, efficiently for a trip to Mars and back. It is a glimpse into the future of innovative energy supply technology. We seriously believe a variant of this dynamic technology will feed the crew of humanity's future astronomical adventures over the next century.

Detailed Project Description

We used an aeroponic system arranged in tower gardens. Nutrients are mixed with water, which is sprayed as a vapour through a column. Plants are arranged along the walls of the column, with the shoots outside it and the roots inside. The roots absorb the water and nutrients, which are necessary for the growth of the plant. This system is maximally efficient at water and space usage compared to other methods, which is a very important consideration for a multi billion dollar spacecraft. Hence, it was the system we chose for the final design.

Space Agency Data

We have used a few figures from NASA's website to understand the challenge.

Hackathon Journey

This was an important group project for all of us. It taught us how to distribute the workload and work as a team to achieve the best results. We were inspired to choose this as we are all amazed by the cosmos and curious as to humanity's future ventures into the unknown. Overall, I think we enjoyed it, and it was a great experience for all involved.
