Introduction

Every year natural disasters affect millions of people around the world. Disasters have never waited their turn, delay and effected or learn and prosper. Risk drivers and consequences are multiplying and cascading. To solve this problem we must have a commensurate systemic response .

Human life is the most precious thing we have. our vision is to decrease the percentage of disaster impact on humans even with disabilities. From this point, journey to gather information start using an internet search used to reach the facts about this problem and how to solve it. Also, an online questionnaire built to collect information about KSA society and their disaster awareness, how to deal with if it appear, and if they prefer to have an application help them to survive.

We believe that whenever we save humanities we save world, so to reach this goal a good predictions and warnings needed to save lives. With awareness and warning for a disaster in advance, people can protect themselves from death and injury. It can reduce damage and losses.

To save humanities, the idea of ROAD TO SURVIVE appear. It is a mobile application which aim to use EM-DAT and GDACS to get an up to date disaster happened around the world. In addition, NASA earth dataset used to predict near real time natural disaster that have potential effect on humans over the world. it delivered needed information, alert public and guide them to survive.

1.1 Problem Statement & Significance

In the last twenty years, EM-DAT (international database) record a 7,348 disaster events. The disaster claimed 1.23 million lives, and effect 4 billion people. In addition, disasters led to losses in economic about US$ 2.97 trillion worldwide. It appears that, a high increase with previous twenty years.

Disasters around the world have many effect like: injury, loos in life, property and infrastructure damages, loss in economic, Sociological & psychological effects,..etc.

The disasters effects appears because of

-    Weakness in the awareness the public know about disasters

-    People don’t receive an advanced alarm about existing disasters

-    Problem with evacuate the disabilities people

1.2 Proposed Solution

To solve the disaster affects and problems, Road to Survive idea appeared. Road to Survive is an mobile application that solve the problems of disasters and decrease the number of injury and death people. The application provide the following:

-    Serve people around the world even if they have a disabilities,

-    Provide multi-languages,

-    Person must register to benefit from the escape plan (this is done to collect information as report about people in that region)

-    Monitor your current location to receive emergency alert,

-    Monitor your family or preferred area you love and inform you whenever there is a disaster.

-    Alert the public about natural disasters,

-    Provide a scape plan guidance (give the path to escape) depending on the person with/without disabilities (voice, vibration, image),

-    Increase the awareness of how to deal with different disasters,

-    Allow public to inform authority what they see, smell,..etc by inform us (image, voice, or text).

-    Register disasters volunteers, who exist especially to help disabilities persons (the nearest volunteer will take the mission to help)

-    Connect automatically between disabilities person and volunteer if disaster happened

-    Provide an interactive map with real time data,

-    Easy-to-use map interface,

-    Provide you with a dashboard contains the disasters appear in your region,

-    Provide user with the latest disasters news around the world or based in your region,

-    And view situational analysis reports.

How would you describe your Space Apps experience? What did you learn?

Space App challenge let us enter the world of space and utilize it data that can deliver an amazing solutions to save humanity and save the world. We learned how they predict the alerts and disasters around the world from NASA earth data and other space sources.

What inspired your team to choose this challenge? 

Saving Human life, people even with disabilities, and volunteers around the world to increase the probability that people can take protective actions and decrease the delay in taking actions.

What was your approach to developing this project? 

We create Survey and build the porotype based on it while inspiring and utilizing NASA data.
