High-Level Project Summary
The wildfires are a real problem because they pollute the air with smoke, which makes it very hard to breathe and can damage our health. Also, wildfires destroy the trees, communities and ecosystem. Wildfires heat up the earth and we already have lots of heatwaves as the global warming problem is growing. To solve this problem, we brainstormed an idea to use SCISAT and RADARSAT satellites to collect data, analyze and predict weather changes ahead of time which favor the right meteorological conditions for wildfires. In this way we can notify fire and regional environment stations in order to prepare the areas to minimize the possibility for wildfires and notify people in the area.

Detailed Project Description
Our project addresses the wildfires problem by using SICSAT and RADARSAT satellites to collect and analyze data to identify the most favorable conditions for wildfires to happen. By analyzing the weather conditions and provide accurate meteorological information to local and regional fire stations and regional environment centres, fire departments can plan in advance and prepare the areas against wildfires. They can treat the trees, forest or even the communities with special eco-friendly anti-inflammable solutions or build barriers ahead of time for the fire not to expand.
There can be a wildfire prevention network system developed so all the communities in the areas where wildfires are most likely to happen can communicate and plan prevention actions and help each other.
Preventing wildfires can save lives, communities, nature and resources. Preventing wildfires would be significantly less expensive than restoring the nature, resources and communities lost due to the fires.
Space Agency Data
For this project we used CSA open data from SCISAT (atmospheric research satellite) and RADARSAT (earth observation satellite).
Hackathon Journey
Our experience was good and interesting. We learned that wildfires are a bigger problem than what we thought they were at the start of the project. The thing that inspired us was that we knew that the wildfires hurt a lot of our ecosystem, so that inspired us to try to find a solution to that.
Our approach to this project was to complete an internet research on this subject which helped us better understand the impact that wildfires have in our country and in the world. The wildfire problem is a growing and concerning reality that needs to be addressed as soon as possible.
