Amal Ejector

High-Level Project Summary

We designed a cylinder box and everything is in the box. In the box we have a CO2 tube, mini dc motor, tubular nylon cordon, a leverage system for stick the needle to tube, spring, a needle, a screw, a sharp piece for cut the cord and an electo-plastic film. The seperation system's main princible is stick the needle to tube, to do this we use a taut cord s and compressed spring's potential energy to bring up CO2 tube's potential energy.

Detailed Project Description

We used the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and SolidWorks program while designing our separation system in 3D. Our design is cylindrical and has a height of 15 cm and a diameter of 2 cm. There is only one mini dc motor that consumes power in our system, which consumes electricity between 1.5-2 watts. The motor in the system will run for only 2 seconds during the separation. Our system will attached to body and will not move. Our system can be used again after a short installation (tube filling, cord change, crown film change). The separation logic of our separation system is based on the pressure created by the bursting of the CO2 cylinder. A separation command is given to the mini dc motor in our separation system. Through the sharp piece at the end of the DC motor, the taut cord is cut. In this way, the compressed spring pushes the needle, which will burst the CO2 tube with the break of the rope, towards the tube through our leverage system. Due to the pressure created by the explosion of the tube, a pressure chamber is formed inside the separation system. The pressure bursts the film at the top and the escaping pressure creates a instant, strong thrust, causing separation.

Space Agency Data

In this part, we watched the promotional video to form an idea in our minds. Then, based on our past knowledge, we formed a few ideas in our minds and decided to make a system with a CO2 tube. In order to check whether we can make such a system, we looked at the conditions of the competition and saw that it was appropriate. We used the documents given to us by NASA in the resources section to use components that can withstand the G force of the rocket and easily perform the separation process in our system.

Hackathon Journey

We are select this challenge because we have a interest about rockets and seperations systems. Actually this year we joined a rocket competition calles Teknofest Rocket Competition. We have experience about this challenge and we have interest so we select this challenge. We experienced so much insomnia :) and so many problems but we come through. We solve setbacks by hard-working. Thanks to Space Apps Turkey Organization Team for their helps.
