Bang Free!

High-Level Project Summary

Pressure cartridge that is used to prevent over pressurization in a hydraulic system. It’s function is to decrease the possibility of high shock events caused by over pressurization so we developed our device. Device doesn’t get affected by the temperature due to the way it push apart unlike like the cartridge valve. Instead of using a cartridge valve it will be replaced by a repulser to produce high pressure and also high temperatures.Device can contain around 4000 newtons which is enough to holdrocket parts during launch. It will require 4200 newtons to push apart which means the ignition in device will generate around 4200 newtons. The repulser is easier to control than the electricity.

Detailed Project Description

The main point of this device is to prevent over pressurization, one of the reason how high shock event happened. This device will have 4 stages until It separated. Stage 1 the ignition, is from the ignition of the main charge .It will cause high pressure in the device. Stage 2 removal, It will remove the constraint on the ring splits by the body. Stage 3 movable, After the removal of the constraint of the ring splits. The bolt is now movable.Stage 4 separate,By the pressure from stage 1 the bolt will separate from the body.

It can help reduce vibration very well, in addition, the item that we changed the method allows to reduce the chance of explosion. Hopefully it can be put into practice and see it developed to benefit the world.Since the project we do is hardware, there is no need to study computer language, it must be mostly hardware-related.

Space Agency Data

We were inspired by " A Nation's Tragedy, NASA's Challenge", from all the lost and devastating circumstances that had happened. We were touched by what the astronaut team had said: "Yes, there is risk in space travel, but I think that it is safe enough that I'm willing to take the risk." that we need to carry on the human exploration of the universe that we live in. From our perspective, every discovery is always a great achievement of mankind, therefore being a part of the process to reduce damage more or less is vital. From Small Beginnings Come Great Things.

Hackathon Journey

We find it an extremely unique opportunity to be a part of the Hackathon. What we have gained from it was fostering critical thinking and think systematically in gathering evidence for theories, relying on other people builds trust, and teamwork establishes a very strong relationship with us and our co-workers. Each member has something special to offer. Inspired by our own interests, technologies have revolutionized many aspects of peoples' lives, including the space industry. Technology has somehow developed beyond the word 'imagination". We had chosen the Let It Go (without a bang) Challenge since it will definitely widen up our perspective in the field of space. Despite the risks that had happened, reducing the risk can make a huge impact on humanity and space. Our approach to developing this project is to reduce vibration during separation and reduce the risk of explosion. From what we have studied, such as hardware devices, physics calculation formulas, motion, pressure.
