The Silent Rocket

High-Level Project Summary

Our project seeks to solve the separation of the parts of a spacecraft in a non-violent way, to avoid a sudden disunity produced by an explosion. In this way we want to innovate in the way of dividing the stages of a rocket. The pressure difference applies to the moment the rocket flies out; that is where the force of pressure it exerts when leaving,is larger than the atmosphere, this allows separation. This fact occurs when an airplane flies, here the wings separate causing the league. That press, and at the same time join both levels of the rocket, to come out and propel their parts. In this way we avoid an explosion at the time of separation, allowing the parachute to open.

Detailed Project Description

-What exactly does it do?

It is to prevent that at the time of separation of the stages of the rocket an explosion occurs, and there is a non-abrupt separation of the ship.

-How does it work?

When the rocket (measured 15 cm high x 2 cm in diameter) rises, the difference in pressures that implies the separation of the wings that are between layings is applied (theory of the takeoff of current aircraft)At the moment that the first stage is separated by the difference in pressures which causes the wings to move away from the rocket, that is when one leaves by pressure, the other detaches, of course if one leaves first and at that moment the parachute is opened, preventing its fall from generating damage. In this way, the explosion will be avoided and the propulsion of the upper part will be allowed, so that the rocket continues with its journey.

-Which has benefits?

Avoid the explosion of the stages of the ship at the time of separation, and thus reuse the pieces.

By being reusable, millions of dollars would be saved and it would only be a matter of assembling such a piece for future releases.

-What do you hope to achieve?

We want our idea to be applied in today's rocket launches.

-What tools, coding language, hardware or software did you use to develop the project?

Materials: PLA4+, thread, needle, bag, garter.

Tools: Filers, screwdrivers.

Coding language: None.

Hardware: 3D printer, laptop.

Software: Cura (To print the parts), AutoCAD Inventor (to make the design)

We use this link to obtain information to know what are the classes of cutters

that existed.

In addition, what is its operation to be able to better base our ideas.

Link: Reefing Line Cutters

We use this resource to learn a little more about how the parachute of the ARES IV rocket works, which makes us take into account everything that happened in addition to taking it into account so as not to make those mistakes and that our project is effective.

Link: Launch Separation Devices (Or launch locks)

In these resources we tell a little of the story about how the rockets that were divided into phases were reinvented so that it could also fly tomes in terms of the but and the strength to be effective.

Hackathon Journey

José Carlos Moscoso Prieto -> When I heard the term NASA, it brings to my imagination, the grandiose, unimaginable, first-class innovative technology. Upon learning of a contest promoted by this agency, I assumed that it was only for graduate engineering students. But this contest allows anyone, without restriction of age or knowledge, to participate and propose great solutions to problems that overwhelm us day by day. Due to this, our participation was able to materialize with a team of talented young people eager to learn, innovate and generate great solutions.

And as our team's slogan goes, "Great scientific breakthroughs came from the great imagination."

Fabricio Figueroa Barrios -> It was a very nice experience since I learned about NASA and it was a job that needed a lot of effort to be able to win and give as much as possible of us.

Antonio Nicanor Melendres Gamero -> A beautiful experience, interesting since we have done everything, I think we would not have achieved it without everyone's help and interesting about the realization of our project, and about NASA, which is my first experience and first project.

Alejandro David Zevallos Pizarro -> It was too nice an experience, when I found out that this belonged to NASA I had too much emotion to participate, and now that we are giving everything with our colleagues, and today that the video is delivered, we are giving our best. This is the first time I participate here, in something that is too big and recognized is something very interesting. Now we are with the goal of being winners.

John Andres Neyra Soncco -> The experience of participating in a project together with my colleagues in a team was undoubtedly extraordinary, contributing to the development of new technologies that can be implemented in the long term.

Claudio Paolo Gonzales Lazo -> very interesting because it has allowed me to learn new things in addition to working more as a team and also knowing what the whole process of creating a project is like, I learned to work more as a team to brainstorm and be able to share more with my colleagues; more than all the content of the description because that way we could understand how those separations of the stages are made today, our approach would be to avoid those explosions that occur between stage and stage that are often very harmful because a waste is generated, the setbacks we solved by talking among all and looking for information to be able to give a solution, to whom I would have to thank is our professor José Carlos Moscoso Prieto that thanks to him I discovered this beautiful event that I found very interesting and in itself to all my colleagues of the group that each one put his grain of sand to get this project out in addition to the organizers and that they continue to manage this type of events that promote science.
