High-Level Project Summary
Thinking about how to make the most people aware, we at Acqua Intelligence (NASA SpaceApps Hackathon 2021 team) have concluded that broad sharing and easy access to information about plastic pollution in the oceans is necessary. We plan to develop the AI to identify, quantify and monitor this debris and develop an open platform for everyone to access real-time data about them and information about the importance of this AI for related projects.

Detailed Project Description
The project is the creation of an AI to identify, monitor and detect plastic waste in the ocean using data from satellites and other monitoring such as YOLO (short description of YOLO) and an App created using the Python language to show, in a didactic and educational way, the collected data.

Hackathon Journey
Salvador is the basis for choosing a project in which it applies. For being a city with a beach coastline, this is the start of our project, because from here we can develop the AI for other locations, knowing the reality and solving not only the pollution of Salvador but also of other regions that belong to our research.
