Harnessing artificial intelligence to reduce plastic debris

High-Level Project Summary

The marine environment struggles every day with the tough challenges it fights against against man-made pollutants like microplastics that irritate, pollute and also kill marine life, so we used all the techniques. In order to help us solve this problem, so we created a sensor that floats and dives into the sea and ocean to sense the different types and sizes of plastic and determine where they are collected and also determine their measurements in a quantitative way and send them coordinates to satellites, and from satellites to our devices to know all the details in order for our marine environment to be Safe and clean environment and reduce pollution of aquatic organisms.

Detailed Project Description

My team and I created a sensor that senses and reactivates plastics in the seas and oceans through solar energy and works by buoyancy and diving in the seas and oceans to explore these plastics and collect their data and quantitative measurements of their risks. And send it to the satellites via the Global Navigation Satellite System (CYGNSS), and then send this data to the website that was designed for this challenge in order to take advantage of this data to all over the world and in this way specialists and people in general can know this data Plastic materials and cleaning the seas and oceans from them so that the marine environment and alllíving creatures have a clean, safe and pollutant-free environment. We hope that our sensor will be able to facilitate the availability of a safe environment and that these weak, helpless creatures will be happy creatures living their marine life Quietly without the interference of harmful human waste

We used GPS and microwave scanning sòme open source NASA references to develop this project. In addition, we developed the project by connecting the device to satellites and linking them through a website that was designed by some of our

team members.

We are working on developing and expanding the project by adding sound waves to the device so that living creatures can hear it and stay away from the source of these sSound waves so that these creatures do not swallow this device thinking they are prey.

Space Agency Data

We saw NASA's open sources and got inspired by the Global Navigation Satellite System (Cygnss) for our innovation, and many others.

Hackathon Journey

The hackathon trip was very interesting and informative, during which we were introduced to creative people who are passionate about space and everything related to computers. My team and I cooperated as if we had become one. We faced difficulties, but we overcame them, exchanged ideas, and expressed our happiness with the opportunity to participate in this hackathon and to choose the challenge and the appropriate solutions for it. These memories will be stored deeply in my memory and I will never forget them. Precious experience.
