A.I assisted Marine Floating Debris Collector

High-Level Project Summary

This is a debris collector that has a Drone that functions as a brain of the system, which captures aerial image data and detects debris and notifies the location of the debris to the floating swarm collector robots. The twin collector bots then uses a shortest distance calculator algorithm to determine the most efficient path to travel in order to collect the debris. The twin collector system consists of two floating robotic boats that encloses a floating mesh that captures the debris that falls within it. This project was inspired by the recent pearl ship tragedy in our country that destroyed tons of marine life and left millions of plastic debris floating in the sea

Detailed Project Description

The project consists of a dynamically trainable Convolutional neural network that can detect floating plastic debris from the aerial image and by determining the focal distance, view point and gives an output of an image with coordinates to the floating debris, The image is later preprocessed by using image augmentation techniques and then sent to a shortest dustance calculator algorithm that determines the efficient way to travel and collect the floating junk.

Space Agency Data

we collected data from Nasa official webpage for the research purposes.

Hackathon Journey

It is an unforgettable experience. We learned many things about space and the relation with space and earth. and can able to research more with AI with space .
