Sensory Robot for Polymer Mapping

High-Level Project Summary

The sensory robot is a small machine capable of measuring and quantifying polymer measurements - a substance present in plastics - in water.Through it, we can locate pollution spots in rivers and oceans, sending data to NASA, aiming at mobility for cleaning them.It is hoped that with this, we can improve the quality of marine fauna and flora.

Detailed Project Description

The sensory robot was created based on the Oceanographic Buoys, which stays in storms by floating and collecting data for the research and data centers. This robot will work by capturing solar energy and will use sensors to detect polymers and measure the extent of pollution, transmitting the data to NASA every 24 hours via satellite. The objective of this project is to locate the concentration points and - through the human factor - to clean them to improve the quality of the marine habitat, reversing the current scenario. It is believed that with the necessary engagement and effort, it will be a matter of time, so that we do not worry about large concentrations, but rather the filtering of microscopic debris.

Hackathon Journey

While it was innovative, it was very challenging, creating this project brought us good experiences and made us think better about our planet and its problems, it made us meet new people and exchange knowledge with them.
