High-Level Project Summary

Bangladesh is predominantly an agricultural country, where the agriculture sector plays a vital role in accelerating the economic growth. Close to 50 percent of Bangladesh's population is primarily employed in agriculture, with more than 70 percent of its land dedicated to growing crops. Major crops cultivated include rice, potato, mustard etc. Agriculture remains the most important sector of Bangladeshi economy, contributing 19.6 percent to the national GDP and providing employment for 63 percent of the population. Though agriculture is one of our biggest strength, many of our farmers face some major challenges including Climate change, Inadequate Management Practices.

Detailed Project Description

Krisheasy – A mobile application that revolutionizes the farming with a little help of Data.

We the team krisheasy working on agriculture intelligence in order to improve and upgrade the growth of agriculture of the country aka the whole economy. I am Samantha Haque, Department of Software Engineering. and we have Saima Khan, Asaduzzaman Rimo, Lamia Akhter and all of us proudly representing department of software engineering, Daffodil International University.

Agriculture is the oldest occupation and more than half of the globe’s population is directly or indirectly dependent on the livelihood of agriculture. And the developed world has developed their tactics of cultivation long way using artificial intelligence and technology; still in so many ways we cultivate a lot more crops than some of them and the reason behind it is our blessed lands and the atmosphere . so it is confirmed if we can use technology ,data and AI in a right way we can help our farming growth and farmer’s financial growth way faster than the traditional way.

It is mainly comprised of farmers who have very less amount of land and education and can ask for suggestion for medicines to other farmers only. The major problem for them is they face loses mostly for pest, disease or nutrient deficiency.

So here is our software where farmers can see everything in their mother tongue and log in very easily and we will make sure the interface becomes the easiest to use through feedback we collect from the farmers.

All they have to do is to snap a photo of a defected leaf or the root or any part of a plant he needs to ask about . our software will automatically process the image and search for similar data inside and give the instant solution of medicine name and disease name and some precautions he can take for future to prevent other plants. This is the part we will work on in very near future.

It also find the similar area where the same kind do disease has occurred before and will let the nearby cultivation office know about the disease or the problem the farmer is facing. And the nearby agriculture office will send the medicines or pest as soon as possible.

We will try our best to implement maximum amount of it within our dream software within the time but there has some future plans we want to execute die heartedly. We will be adding a video scanning system that will say which part of the land needs pesticides only and which part does not so that the plants can grow in a right way and the waste of pesticides reduces. As we can see sometimes farmers mixes pesticides with water to spray all over the land which can be harmful for other plants sometimes so it gets very important the right part of plants get the right nourishment.

Space Agency Data

We mainly used rice disease data from kaggle. We classified 3 diseases along with the healthy rice leaves and trained the model by Deep Learning algorithm. This dataset inspired our project to complete it successfully as we are mainly focusing on classifying the diseases of our crops.

As we have already mentioned that we used open data, but we also used some data from NASA. But for some lackings, we could not use huge data. But our project successfully classifies and we are nearly sure that this model will also work well when NASA data will be used fully.

Hackathon Journey

I didn't have any experience in space apps, but I have had a lot of experience. I can learn a lot from here, such as how we need to reach one. How to work on a project as a group. And how to get the projector output of the group. The team members accepted the challenge as a target for this project. I had a vision for the development of this project. I am developing the project on my own. Every member of my team is working hard for technology and they are making this project their own. I want to thank our mentor as she (Afsana Begum) was very helpful and monitored our work time to time. We are really grateful to have her as our mentor and hope she will continue her journey with the same pace.
