High-Level Project Summary
Our project is an unmanned underwater vehicle designed to measure the density of litter in the water, the debris fields, the density of the areas under the debris. It will meet this challenge thanks to the cameras below and in front of it. If it is in a dark place, it will be able to see thanks to its double light. If we consider the cameras in detail, both cameras are water resistant, but they are still inside the pressure resistant tube. The cameras can shoot 1080p, 1440p and 4k.

The Project that we chose is Leveraging AI/ML For Plastic Marine Debris. Sea debris is one of the most common dangers of coast districts, oceans and waterways health. Our challenge is to track plastic pollution, locate and calculate using AI/ML and raise awareness about using these Technologies for this purpose.
We suggest designing an unmanned underwater vehicle to watch the amount of sea debris, calculate it and to find where the highest concentration is, how it spreads and to track how the debris get contact with the biologic beings in the ocean. This underwater vehicle will be able to move as autonomous and will be able to find data collection with high trueness.
There will be a camera in the front and under the vehicle. We will take images, categorize them with AI/ML algorithm and watch them. We will detect the size, kind and lifting force of the debris from afar. We will use bathymetric LIDAR sensor. Bathymetric LIDAR sensor helps with sense underwater shapes. İt will report/visualize the things it finds.
In the technical part, we will transfer the images that we took with the two cameras to the computer program. We will categorize AI model images in the computer and transfer them to database and and broadcast them in the web platform. We will use 6 motors fort he vehicle. Two of them will help going back and forth, four of them will help going up and down and the rest of them will have light. There will be a tube where will be electronic equipments which also will be water resistent and pressure resistant. In the AI part we will use Tensorflow library and we will code with python programming language.
To keep maintainability of our design, we will make our web program paid insignificantly (around 5 dolars). This way we will be able to have people get in our website and we will be able to maintain our designs financial stability.
