High-Level Project Summary
Our team has developed a live software platform that allows astronauts & other space workers to collaboratively work on their space missions and enter respective logs. The platform aims to transform silo-ed mission logs capture process into a seamless, intuitive, and mainly live & collaborative process: this includes users profile, appropriate access to assigned missions & logs, ability to see logs submitted by peers in real-time, and like them.

Detailed Project Description
Features of the Spacebook platform:
- Allows user profile creation, and access missions/logs that they own and have accessed to.
- Allows user to see the mission and logs' updates done by their peers in real time.
- Allows user to engage with the logs entered by their mission peers, in the form of 'like' button.
- Allows user to add 'free-style' metadata as part of logs submissions, i.e, date and time stamp.
Benefits & Impacts of the platform:
- Transform silo-ed mission logs capture process into a seamless, intuitive, and mainly live & collaborative process.
- Promote cross-collaboration, innovation and sharing among the broader space community.
- Facilitate digital capture, long-term storage of mission logs details and seamless discovery of the details post missions.
Tech Stack:
- Front-End: HTML, CSS, JavaScript
- Backend: Firebase storage and real-time data
Space Agency Data
As mentioned in the project details, "The demonstration of this capability does not require actual mission data; multi-person logging events on any subject can be used to demonstrate your application " -- we were focused on building real-time capability to promote cross-collaboration but inspired by the sample logs detailed provided on previous missions & programs.
And also, to make the mission & logs data contextual, we researched on Artemis missions and utilized some of the details in our sample mission entries and logs.
Hackathon Journey
The hackathon was truly a great experience for our team, we learnt many new concepts and we had a lot of fun. What inspired our team was that we believed we could tackle this problem and find a solution for it: we know that breaking silo-ed missions & logs capture process, would drastically unlock huge collaboration opportunities for the team involved directly in the mission ,as well as open the data for broader space community to push the boundaries in terms of research and innovation.
We had a lot of obstacles that came toward us, such as finding the correct database and storage for the platform, but the resources available online were very helpful.
We'd like to thank our team leader: Vignesh Natarajan :)
