Stuff tracker

High-Level Project Summary

We created a project that allows the user to track in real time the position of bodies in Earth's orbit, as well as predict their trajectory and collisions with others in the future. All this is done in 3D, where you can see it all the way it really happens.

Detailed Project Description

Our project has the following advantages:

  • The ability to search the body database by many criteria: weight, type, country of launch, etc.
  • Timeline that allows you to view orbit trajectories in the past
  • Future orbit modeling capability

Space Agency Data

We have used sites like https://www.space-track.org (our datascientist hates it) and https://www.heavens-above.com. For the most part, it is 2 due to the fact that the data from it is easy to parse, as well as its size. We also used such libraries for Python (and the whole project was written in it), as vpython (in the final project it is he), numpy, open3d. Also, for the preprocessing of the orbits, the Blender 3D program and the bpy library were used.

Hackathon Journey

We would like to say thank you to Vladislava Marsakova, as well as our mentors. They all helped us at different stages of project development.

I would also like to thank the Innovation Kitchen space for the space provided during the hackathon.
