Mapping Space Trash

High-Level Project Summary

We have described an idea to efficiently track down space debris using Artificial Neural Network and thermal screening to help identify and locate debris. This innovation can help in accurately giving coordinates of debris, big or small. A micron sized debris can cause technical error and malfunctions to million dollar space vehicles.

Detailed Project Description

Just like the neurons in the brain which help identify a hot pan from using our senses, We plan to identify and number each debris particle in a given mapped region. According to our research, we have found that Graphite Epoxy was found common in all components on machines which have been sent to space. Thermal screening can we used to give us rough coordinates of the junk which can be observed from from Earth. These radars can slice through space clouds and over any sort of weather obstacles. After giving a rough estimation, we would require a more specific program to identify what type of debris it is and how threatening to our machines it is. A warning will be issues when the debris is in vicinity , alerting all members in case there would be an aftermath. The alert would be given when the debris is 10,000km radius. The benefits of this program would be accuracy and its ability to alert. We hope to learn how to code to be able to make our plans seek reality. we used rational thinking and researching to arrive at this conclusion.

Space Agency Data

We researched about the existing ways used to battle trash in space and its pros and cons. we researched on types of material on space suits, space crafts and satellites. Artificial Neural Network was also being researched on.

Hackathon Journey

amazing , incredible and very educating experience.
