Mapping Space Trash in Real Time

High-Level Project Summary

Space debris is managed by converting them to nanoparticles using lasers or chemical. The speed of these space debris can be tracked using various sensor and radar system.By using these ideas we could not only track debris but also prevent them from colliding. Also, it could track were the debrie will be colliding. We could then reduce the space junk and have a safe future launching.

Detailed Project Description

Firstly, space debrisis an increasing issue faced everywhere. There are lots of space-crafts launched by various nations for a longer period of time and once their aim ids achieved these satellites become space junk and keep rotating in the space or within Earth's lower orbit. It becomes difficult when space debris starts orbiting with maximum speed and could possibly collide with any working spaceship. So to prevent such collidals we are trying to convert these debris into the smaller pieces so they could be less harmfull.

We could do this by using some chemical or by laser to break down these bigger piece of debris into smaller version .

Secondly, we can use various sensors and radar by which we can keep a track about the size, speed and shape of this debris. Once we estimate the speed of these debris we can track down their actions and will try to reduce their speed. This process will take time but once if it is implimented we can have a less traffic in the space thus reducing the space debris.

We selected this topic because Space debris or Space junk is increasing rapidly. There are various domain we could work on. Besides, this is the problem everyone needs to address. We researched various articles on Nasa's official page related to space debris, how they manage these debris attacks, what techniques are used till now and how can they cleaned up. As we got to deep into it we realized that these collidals could be reduce if we reduce the size of the debris. We could actually think of ideas other than the existing ones.

Hackathon Journey

This was my first ever experience in such competetion, but I learned many things about how people present, how to answer the questions, what should be the key points in a ppt and also got to know many new ideas. There was a great variety of topics. We loved exploring new ideas related to our topic. We were looking for some mixture of ideas implemented. We had a basic question ready for the session but a lot of knowledge was required. Through this hackathon we got a vast idea about new topics and so happy that we got to experience this.

I would like to thank Ms Pooja .Tak , Vasantdada Patil College who gave us this wonderfull oppurtunity and guided all if us to do better.

Thankyou.
