Space_Debrits_3d_Map

High-Level Project Summary

We used TLEs data to track the debris, integrating those to a system that creates a timeline giving us the abilities to map debris even in the first future, foreseeing eventual collision, between debris or even other satellites. This happens thanks to the equations of the orbits of the debris and a program created in C++ and python, using the graphics engine “Unreal Engine 4” to display an accurate 3d map.This Project could help to understand hugeness of the problem and it gives us an idea about the situation. It could also help the space exploration and observation.

Detailed Project Description


We used TLEs data to track the debris, integrating those to a system that creates a timeline giving us the abilities to map debris even in the first future, foreseeing eventual collision, between debris or even other satellites. This happens thanks to the equations of the orbits of the debris and a program created in C++ and python, using the graphics engine “Unreal Engine 4” to display an accurate 3d map.

Space Agency Data

We used space-track's TLE datas that we have retrieved the tool "Space Srack Setriever 3". We were able to calculate the coordinates of each debris from the TLEs and then display the map on the screen with a graphics engine.

Hackathon Journey

this experience has been useful to learn how teamwork really works. For the first time we worked together for a very important and massive challenge. We felt like a real team of developers or researchers and we found out that is a wonderful job. We have chosen this challenge because we thought that is a very intersting one and we could faced it. We worked as a team: all the developers know all the facetings of the whole project. It was a very hard weekend but we think that it was a very formative one.
