Introduction to Hight Altitude Balloon

High-Level Project Summary

As arrow team is a student activity based on sharing knowledge and student to student help we believe that everyone deserves to learn that's why we are trying to help with a simple lesson to demonstrate high altitude balloons simplifying the physics, different types, how to built on of your own, what HAB used for, how to design it, how to predict the path, and the minimum martial needed for this project.Anyone with enthusiasm for STEM and building things on his own will find it useful and it will help enrich his knowledge and this may be a spark for someone's great contributions.

Detailed Project Description

WE covered:

  1. Archimedes' principles .
  2. Types of HAB.
  3. The thickness of the balloon
  4. Calculating the helium need to launch a payload.
  5. What is the needed material for lunching a HAB?
  6. What to add to the payload?
  7. How to predict the path of a balloon?

Thus, you can conclude how to DIY a HAB and the Material needed for that project.

We used all the resources provided for this challenge on the global NASA space apps website all are linked in the References sector.

Hackathon Journey

This hackathon was a challenging one for our team since It was conducted virtually this time, we have split our tasks amongst our team members according to each member's expertise, our main researchers were Ahmed and Malak. They did all of the research and googling to deliver a good overview of the required job for the other teammates, Sameh did the research on the hardware since he has experience with that the most so we were asking him all the time for hardware parts choices and comparisons. another core member of our team is Yusuf which was responsible for the project videos and he is one of our most dedicated members for that he did! Our last member which we won't forget is Kirollos, he was responsible for the graphic designs that we were using in our videos and the team members' banners and covers!
