Let it HAB

High-Level Project Summary

NASA launches High Altitude Balloons to investigate weather and test payloads for orbital spacecraft. People need to know more about HABs what they'll need to get ready to start a HAB. So, our team came up with an idea to make it easier for anyone who wants to learn including an interactive mobile app with a lesson plan and a Bill Of Materials (BOM), which is backed by 2-d graphics and collects data from NASA's resources and simplifies it to the user of the app. As a result, the app will act as a guide for people who want to develop a HAB or learn more about tracking and launching one. The app would consist of:1.(Lesson plan, Preparation, Launch, Tracking, recovery) 2. BOM 3.FAQ of HAB.

Detailed Project Description

Many of us resort to the use of social networking sites for learning, and NASA is always interested in building balloons that are used for scientific research and other purposes, so we wanted as a team to combine the two ideas and the result was that we design an application. The application will serve as a guide for those who want to build a HAB or who They would like to know more about tracking or launching one.

The application is downloaded, and then it can be used directly and easily, as it is divided into lessons, and each lesson includes a special part such as planning, preparation, launching, tracking and recovery, Bill of Materials and Frequently Asked Questions about HAB.

This project is characterized by that it combines the uses of the current era and scientific research, as obtaining any information that can help us in building a balloon is very difficult and we can rarely obtain documented information about it, but now this application solves this dilemma effectively.

We hope that this application will be widely used to help build many of the airships that are used in scientific research, and we also hope that it will reap the admiration and acceptance of many people to use it.

We have used many tools that are divided into

1. coding language: Dart

2. Software: Android studio, Flutter

3. Hard ware: Latex balloon, helium gas (He), payload, sensor, ground station and cylinders.

Space Agency Data

High Altitude Ozone Research Balloon: We have used this research paper to have more detailed background about the challenge and collect data about the launch and the recovery of the HAB. Specifically, it gave us the steps that are important for starting the launch. It provided us with two ways of launching and which one is the best.

Hackathon Journey

Joining the hackathon of NASA space apps was such an amazing experience that had a strong impact on us. It changed the way we think, helped us to become more capable of solving problems, and improving a solution for a challenge that we worked on. When we entered the challenges' page, we read about many challenges but (Near space – near you) the most one has attracted us. This would help scientists to build a HAB very easily that would help them to study space. We made an application that is provided with everything you need to build your HAB from planning to launch, tracking and recovery. While our hackathon, of course, we had faced problems, so to avoid these problems we researched a lot and read many research papers especially from NASA. Also, videos of people who had built a HAB helped us so much to understand many things about building a HAB. I would thank every one of my team for working hard and helping each other during this period.
