Detailed Project Description
Since poorer regions are more affected by climate change than well developed nations, an app could be made that informs the general public about ongoing disasters in real time using satellite data and local sources and allows the user to donate an amount of their choosing in order to relieve damage caused by the incident.
It could also detect upcoming disasters and warn authorities, giving them time to prepare for them, whether by evacuating the population or mitigating the issue in other ways.
Giving info on how to lower the user's carbon footprint and ways to pass laws that sanction major polluters could also be a feature worth looking into
Space Agency Data
I mainly used the sources I listed as ways to check the plausibility of the ideas I had. While some of said ideas got scrapped, the resources provided were enough for me to use them as a foundation for my app.
Hackathon Journey
It was difficult, but rewarding nevertheless. I enjoyed participating in the challenge, as a lot of the information I looked through concerning it was quite novel to me.
Personally, climate change, socioeconomic inequalities, and the protection of the environment are incredibly important subjects that should be tackled and treated with respect.
We resolved setbacks and challenges by effectively communicating and eliminating the issue at hand.
I'd like to thank my teacher for supporting me and this project.
