High-Level Project Summary
The Zemina Project is a study that identifies marginalized communities that are exposed to environmental hazards and lack of access to resources. The aim of this research is to bring light to those people with low-income and development backgrounds and find solutions that can bring reasonable solutions.To execute this project, we have developed a prototype that overlaps maps to keep a record of potential dangerous regions to diminished groups and, based on the information found, we can create a report to find ways of decreasing the risks and of providing material goods.

Detailed Project Description
What exactly does it do and how does it work?
The Zemina Project studies and identifies communities with low-income and development backgrounds that are exposed to severe environmental hazards, such as poor air quality, water and soil pollution, intense heat and wildfires, and unequal access to resources, and to produce feasible solutions to them, by presenting concrete data about them. Although humankind is suffering many disasters, it is important that precautions to reduce their occurrences are taken, since it will improve the health, well-being and quality of life of both advantage and disadvantage populations. Through the use of overlapping maps technique, we have created a prototype to track areas that represent high risks to marginalized people and develop the best solutions to improve the life conditions there.
What benefits does it have?
- Improves social and administrative services not only for the currently community, but also for the future generations;
- Bring light to marginalized communities;
- Present solutions that help reduce current and future damage;
- Contribute to the preservation of natural results
What do you hope to achieve?
The team hopes to raise awareness about people in lower socioeconomic and minority classes and help these communities in the best way possible.

Space Agency Data
The Space Agency Data that was mainly used in our project was provided by NASA:

The team used the data to develop the case study when writing the paragraphs, creating graphics and adding images. These data helped us to show that there is an actual threat to marginalized groups and, based on this information, we selected the most serious risks and designed solutions to mitigate the impact primarily based on the use of satellite data to identify dangerous areas.
Hackathon Journey
It was really amazing to participate in this journey, as we learned a lot with all the research done with the resources provided by NASA and with the challenges; in addition to meeting incredible people who shared their knowledge and made it all happen with all the dedication possible. Our greatest inspiration for choosing this challenge was undoubtedly the desire to make a difference by offering our solutions to the most serious problems we are experiencing and that are increasingly affecting marginalized people We did a lot of research on the themes that we consider most important and that would address the most diverse interests. From that information, we discussed possible solutions that would help to solve as many problems as possible. Since our team has people who really care about social and environmental causes and strive to do their best, all setbacks and challenges were resolved with great calm and persistence, in order to provide the best results. Hence, we hope that all our effort and dedication will help to change the world for the better in some way.
