Space for our People

Safe Place

High-Level Project Summary

Climate change is increasingly evident and adds even more uncertainty to the integrity of human life on this planet. The forecasts are catastrophic for the entire socio-environmental stratum. Our application proposes an easier way of interaction between public authorities and the community to reduce social and environmental impacts resulting from disasters caused by human hand or nature. The creation of alerts is the main product to be delivered as the information collected will be of great value to prevent catastrophic occurrences in places that present risk.

Detailed Project Description

Once the alert is created, it will be possible to call the appropriate authorities for maintenance and prevention, and it will be a key tool to alert other citizens of the risk.

And, this feature has the possibility of including photos of the indicated alert, so users can interact in order to help validate information and prevent fake news.

The scoring system carries the ability to reward users for their contributions to the platform and, more importantly, their community. For each risk alert registered, there will be a score to be distributed, which will then be included in a ranking system.

The data will be stored in a database in order to keep the information secure and enable the development of reports in order to analyze the history of related locations. Thus, it is expected that such analyzes will strengthen the decision-making power of entities trained in the development of city structures in the face of situations caused by climate change.

If the entire process goes as it should, we hope that the reports created will be used as a guide for the government's attention and funding. Thus generating interventions where necessary.

To develop the project, we used SQL Database, image editing tools from the Adobe package, and Figma.

Space Agency Data

We used INPE data, as a reference and study of the ground map of the regions, we had the idea of crossing these data with data from other sources and with the contribution of local people

The application uses the Belo Horizonte City Hall database referring to the city's geological records as a way to directly establish the areas of possible risk.

Thus, through the registration of the occurrence/alert, the correlation between the data takes place as a way to help the possible problems to be found by the responsible organizations as a way of resolution/prevention.

Hackathon Journey

First of all we would like to thank NASA for providing an event like this. We improve our personal and collective experiences since the choice of challenge, with research, readings and discussions. We mainly encountered difficulties in measuring the problem before the solution, generating some disagreements in the group and rework, but we managed to get around the situation by visualizing the solution first and adapting it to the problem.
