Tell a Dream

High-Level Project Summary

Through popular and private help, the Tell a Dream project purpose to develop communities that are constantly affected by fires in the Brazilian “Cerrado” region, the project also purpose to organically reforest the “Cerrado”. This project is doing at events promoted on social networks, direct donors will receive a physical and/or digital partnership seal of the donor, and as they receive donor seals also to distribute another seal of the conscientious customer for buying at a donor company. This project can be used as image for others projects in the globe.

Detailed Project Description

Tell a Dream

Abstract:

Through popular and private help, the Tell a Dream project purpose to develop communities that are constantly affected by fires in the Brazilian “Cerrado” region, the project also purpose to organically reforest the “Cerrado”. This project is doing at events promoted on social networks, direct donors will receive a physical and/or digital partnership seal of the donor, and as they receive donor seals also to distribute another seal of the conscientious customer for buying at a donor company.

How do we confront this challenge?

Who are we?

We are the “Tell a Dream” team, team of business students, where we want to make a difference in the world. Formed by students of business administration in Unespar, Paraná State, Brazil.

The idea originated from images of Cerrado and Pantanal biomes under fire, who touched us and we projected Tell a Dream, a project for people directly affected by environmental hazards(mostly fires in cerrado biome), and even our focus are the cerrado, the project can be used as reference in all the globe.

The theme

The chosen theme was Space for Change, and as we are Brazilians, we are impacted by the images of burning in the Cerrado biome every year, so we thought of a project that initially focuses on the Cerrado biome but is broad enough to cover several regions of the planet.

The Cerrado biome in Brazil annually suffers from constant fires, and small communities in this region continually suffer from the risks of desertification in that area.

The proposal

We are proposing a business project, which can be managed in both the private and government sectors. The project is based on organizing events on social networks with broadcasts on streaming sites, using digital and conventional media influencers.

Donor companies and individuals will receive a physical and/or digital seal as a direct donor to campaigns carried out by Tell a Dream. Companies will have the right to distribute “green” customer stamps to their customers as a discount coupon, creating an environmental marketing system for donor companies. This project is focused on communities in the Brazilian Cerrado, to support marginalized people and communities across the planet.

Solution

The amounts collected will be converted into equipment and works for the development of communities directly affected by fires in the Cerrado biome. Equipment for the promotion of sustainable agriculture in the region, in addition to the realization of future projects aimed at supporting all communities in the Cerrado region and combating desertification in the biome.

Space Agency Data

The datas

The methodology used will be NASA's own system called Amazon Dashboard, the Map Biomes web site applied throughout the Cerrado Biome to track the fires, their distribution, and their causative reason.

According to NASA's own website, the system groups and classifies active fire detections almost in real time, this is done through the Suomi-NPP and NOAA20 satellites, and later this information is crossed with the Global Fire Atlas algorithm for that the perimeter of fire and destruction be tracked more accurately.

The focus of our project are people of quilombola who live in cerrado biome and the objective are incentive development of quilombolas, and sustainable development in the cerrado biome área.

The biome of cerrado is undergoing a process of desertification by climatic changes and predatory deforestation, and over the years can become a irreverssíble process.

Hackathon Journey

Through the challenges, we found a possible solution to a problem that exists in our country. We talked to great mentors and made important personal connections during this hackathon. And we're feeling fulfilled for finishing such an important project during that short amount of time.
