High-Level Project Summary
Mining activity is one of the largest contributors in Peru in the economic canon, it is here, where we identify the central highlands specifically in Cerro de Pasco one of the most influential lagoons "Laguna Quiulacocha" was contaminated by the Volcan company through the tailings deposit which contain heavy metals, ("current tailings dump").Our proposal to remedy this damage is through microbial phytoremediation, especially with the use of plants such as "mosquita" or "ferns" resistant to frost to be able to recover the contaminated water in addition of microorganisms. On the other hand, for the recovery of soils it is possible to use Biochar as a natural animal active ingredient.

Detailed Project Description
The project consists of the biodegradation of heavy metals through the use of microbial phytoremediation which will use as the main companion to microorganisms as an external energy source in order to repower the possible plants to be used, the benefits are specifically divided into the separation of metal and the liberation of molecules from the water, this process although it is long term; There are a lot of uses after plants biodegrade through their leaves. They can be used over time to create Biochar and generate bioremediation of eroded soils.
Our objective more than anything is to inform not only the people of Peru but also worldwide about how negligent mining comes to have many faults when it comes to environmental enforcement. It should be noted that all the members of the project "A change for the Quiulacocha Lagoon" are students of Ing. De Minas but we are looking for a change in the way people think about responsible mining.
Among the tools we use are repositories on the Case of La Laguna as well as organizations such as the OEFA, EPA, etc.

The three tools used were the closest to the issues we are looking for, from close issues such as contamination by heavy metals, especially with Lead and on the other hand we have the preventions that are needed when having some contact with heavy metals .
Hackathon Journey
How would you describe your experience with Space Apps?
We describe it in an empathetic way towards nature and our home that is our planet, a very motivating experience since we can find people and a lot of information that can help us to provide solutions and promote a change for the future, and thus be able to extend our years of human life within our ecosystem, promoting quality and high-performance solutions.
You learned?
We can learn numerous solutions for climate change from different cities, but above all we learned to take better care of our planet and want the best for it, and also how we can raise awareness on theoretical and practical foundations for people and companies.
What inspired your team to choose this challenge?
We are inspired by how we can help the population and raise awareness of Cerro de Pasco mining to provide a solution to be able to recover contaminated soil and how we can start and present our project so that we can rescue our contaminated soil and to provide our compatriots with a better quality of life and a prosperous future.
What was your approach to developing this project?
Our approach was inspired by the contamination generated by mining without any environmental engineer who can control this type of contamination that is directed to the soil and especially to the Quiulacocha lagoon since there is a great concentration of minerals or toxicity that contaminate the flora and fauna at the same time. same as the nearby population or ecosystem.
How did your team resolve setbacks and challenges?
We solved the setbacks by organizing ourselves and in search of ambitious information with a positive attitude, since to be able to investigate it was quite complicated but it was possible to extract specific information and thus we can start to be able to generate solutions to this type of environmental pollution
Is there someone you would like to thank and why?
We thank God for giving us life and continuing to fight day by day, we thank our family members for their understanding and support that we can move forward, as well as each of our colleagues committed to this project generating climate change and motivating people to not pollute by generating awareness.
