Star-A-Gain

High-Level Project Summary

Why did most of the youngsters are not interested in the topic of space? School and textbook, how much did children learn about space from there? And how much exposure about space we provided for them to learn about it? Our team believe we can provoke children's interest in space exploration by providing them with a platform that they can enjoy & gain knowledge. A world filled with discovery, curiosity and imagination. And the mobile game, Star-A-Gain will inspire every generation to look to the stars and beyond.

Detailed Project Description

We hope our game can help spark the interest of the younger generation. With the existing technology such as smartphones, we hope our unique game will reach the masses. We want to make a difference and with our clear goals and a great dedicated team, we hope this will be one of the best platforms to deliver the knowledge of outer space. To spark my community to explore the unknown.

Our past experience has shown us that we are capable of doing the impossible. Even in the remote area of Sarawak, we are always seeking new knowledge when opportunities are given through old and new media. The goal of our team is to spark the community and in some way, we hope our game would inspire a new generation of space explorers.

The tool we use for the illustration is Procreate, an iPad application. To animate illustration, we use Adobe After Effect. The software for programming games in Unity.

Space Agency Data

For the gameplay, Taking Gravity assist into consideration, we applied that into your game. The first encounter the player will see is the star. By orbiting the stars, the players will gain speed and be ready to launch to the next star. Also, the gyroscope control features we've incorporated into the game is to give new perspectives and experiences to the players. It can be a great challenge to simulate a real scenario navigating in space.

For the past experience and the creation by humans to explore the space, we make them as a good use on the award and showcase system in the game. Children are able to unlock and collect information about humans and space in the game. The core mechanics of the game allows children to enjoy path-finding by navigating the rocket and creating magical particle lines. Space exploration with a touch of ‘art’. The element of surprise in a fun and exciting way.

Hackathon Journey

At first, we join this hackathon because of our curiosity. Curious about how's the hackathon is and curious how the Nasa Space Apps hackathon influence people. We are glad to join this Space Apps hackathon. Learn to notice and get wonder about space, we get to know the knowledge while we do all the research and we also learn to inspire people to work and explore together.

Learning the experience of creating amazing work within 48 hours. We know it is tough, but also this is a good chance for us to experience the pressure of it. Pressure doesn't mean bad, it lets us grow taller, bigger and learn to run faster.

As group work, sure there's a lot of urging between the teammates, but we speak out our thoughts, decide together and solve the problem together. Good communication is one of the essences to get the best result by teamwork.

We need and must big thank to our university lecturer. He supports us and guides us starting from research and proposal until the idea and the result we have done.
