Detailed Project Description
The players are in control of Sarah, a young woman who travels through space helping anyone that might get in trouble. During her travel, she receives a call coming from a colony located in Europa, one of Jupiter's moon, and her old home. While she goes there, she gets hit by a cornal mass ejection and her spacecraft begins to show problems. The player then must solve some minigames to fix those problemas long enough for her to get to the destination, while seeing her thoughts and memories from her life.
Space Agency Data
We used data coming from several places. From "Basics of Space Flight" ( https://solarsystem.nasa.gov/basics/ ) we get information on what a spacecraft have, and how it works. From https://spaceplace.nasa.gov/solar-activity/en/ we learned what are Solar Flares and how they occur. From https://www.theatlantic.com/science/archive/2019/01/plants-flowers-international-space-station-moon-mars/581491/ we observed how plants grow on space.
We used this data to teach players how things work on a space travel.
Hackathon Journey
We learned a lot with this experience: how spacecrafts work, what it takes to do a space travel, the risks and challenges, and a lot more. Our team wanted to participate in this challenge because it sounded fun and challenging, within our areas of expertise. We tried to keep things small and do the most we could working on such a small time window. Most of the challenges we experienced were solved easily, some we just discarded because of time span and others we searched our way through it. Some funcionalities didn't go through to the final project, because of time, but we plan to add it in the future.
