Jupiter Ascending

High-Level Project Summary

"Jupiter Ascending" is an open world, highly RPG(Role-Playing Game) influenced, single player game. It's main goal is to help the player experience a unique journey through space, explore more than our solar system and join Eric -the main character- and his partner Levi in their adventures. It all starts on Earth, when a famous billionaire, hires Levi to travel all the way to Jupiter to find life and start the first, known to man, community on this planet. This project is illegal since the goverment doesn't approve of such a dangerous journey, but Levi is a rather greedy man and manages to drag Eric, an old friend and engineer to join him.But maybe they should've stayed home.

Detailed Project Description

"Jupiter Ascending" is a video game, based on the far future, where people have already traveled to outer space and formed communities on inhabitable planets.

It is an -open world- game. This means that there is a map avaliable and every part of it is accessible for the players to travel and explore. Another feature is -RPG-. This means that the player will take the role of the main character,Eric, who is an engineer, an old friend of Levi's. He will follow his friend on this journey, exploring space and planets, interacting with NPC's (Non-Player Character) and completing tasks.

In order to create such game, we will need to use ''Unity'' (a cross-platform game engine) along with C, C++ (coding languages).

Space Agency Data

Most of the data we used is provided by NASA since the names of the planets along with their characteristics (satellites, solar systems, climate etc.) are already known and published.

A lot of imagination is involved , since the game takes place in the far future and a lot of data might change. So we have to get creative

Hackathon Journey

Our Space Apps experience was an exciting journey based on team- spirit and creativity. It taught us to work well with others, respect and listen to different ideas. Learning about each other's interest through conversation which led to us finding a challenge we are all curious about. Hence why we chose ''SPACE QUEST: THE GAME". We decided to make a trailer video along with a PowerPoint describing the game and presenting images of what the final project would roughly look like. We would like to thank NASA for the opportunity and our mentors for always being avaliable to answer our questions.
