Martian Multination:
in this game, we utilized NASA's data about Mars in creating the environment and placing the nations on Mars. we also used NASA's challenge to 3D print martian habitats for inspiration in making the nations' colonies. Martian surface feature data is used features on the game’s map; atmospheric composition and pressure are used as a challenge for the player to re-pressurize a lost astronaut’s suit; soil composition is used as a challenge for the player to decide what 3D printing material would be used for shelters. Polar ice caps could potentially provide water.
CEDA Archive data: air pressure, temperature, dust thickness, and wind speed data recorded by satellites over five years are used to simulate Martian surface conditions. Each grid point on the map is created using longitude and latitude data.
It's Perfect But..:
in this game, we utilized NASA's data and other space agencies' previous successful and unsuccessful missions to create the conditions and come up with missions. in addition, we used NASA's beautiful illustrations for the cards' design
The Space Apps experience was the most fun and challenging experience this team had in a while. The team learned many things including working together, compromising, as well as a ton of information about space! That was very exciting. All of us were adept to make something that was fun as well as educational, and the fact that we all loved video games it only made sense we picked the video game challenge. We started working on this project by meeting up as a team and sharing our ideas. No idea was a bad idea. Ideas started piling up and we managed to pick and choose at the end. As a team, we sat down together and tried to resolve any setbacks or challenges. We looked at the issue and tried to work our way around it. We did research and found where we went wrong and tried to fix it as well.
