X-plorer Jupiter Game

High-Level Project Summary

We developed a role-playing game, which is focused on awakening the interest of school children about the advances made by NASA in the space exploration, by increasing the love for science and awakening their interest in research so in the future they will be the next generation of scientists.

Detailed Project Description

With the X-plorer Jupiter Game you can advance in all its stages without stopping, to explore them and reach the spacecraft which will allow you to keep the astronaut safe and recharge energy in order to continue the adventure.

Once you enter ithe game, the player must create an avatar in order to start exploring Jupiter.

You might choose one of the following three worlds to start the adventure.

The first adventure is the Exploring cards. Is a memory card where the player can discover the quimical elements related to Jupiter's planet atmosphere and obtain its amazing and curious data of

In the second adventure you need to go around Jupiter in arcade mode. The player can run and jump through the three (3) worlds simulated by Jupiter planet, as well as its IO and Europa moons, where the mission is to find and take evidences that can be analized in order to go deeply in to the planet.

The last adventure is the Space puzzle. In this stage the player needs to overcome three levels where the last one would be the hardest to develop in order to build the planet moons.

With X-plorer Jupiter Game, the players would learn more about Jupiter and the sorrounding planet, as well as kindergarten till 7 years old kids can improve their skills and the learning process will be more friendly.

X-plorer Jupiter Game has been developed with Javascript scripting language, formated with html and its styles and images have been made with css. The Javascript Kaboom library was used also to develop the Jupiter Traversing arcade game.

The game is set in a public server of Amazonws link domain with the following url: ec2-18-221-34-104.us-east-2.compute.amazonaws.com

Space Agency Data

To develop the X-plorer Jupiter Game, we took as an idea the ninth NASA spacecraft that have visited the planet Jupiter which provided the data that allowed us to create the worlds of the arcade type game going around Jupiter. The images provided by NASA scientists regarding the planet and Io and Europe moons, as well as the structure, surface and atmosphere that compose it was used also in the same stage.

The source taken in the development of the Io moon world was the one provided by NASA, which describes that it as an actively volcanic world and its atmosphere is mainly composed of sulfur dioxide. In addition, states that the spacecrafts that had studied it, either in overflight or orbiting, were: Voyager, Cassini, Galileo and New Horizons.

In a similar way was made for the Europa moon, where NASA scientists believe that it might be suitable for life being as in Earth due to its composition in abundant chemical elements like liquid water and energy.

For example, in the Explorative Cards game, the chemical elements that make up the planet Jupiter were used to create the game cards and furthermore, indicates relevant data regarding these elements oh the planet.

Hackathon Journey

It is wonderful the experience that living space apps are giving us the opportunity to discover new ideas and develop them, it's a reward that we are able to think in innovative ideas that can lead us to generate a huge impact, at this time we can use our knowledge to give some value into society and that this can be used as a learning experience, during the hackathon of the planet Jupiter we were able to work as a team and also we could experience how it was to work under the time pressure with the result of having really good knowledge lesson's acquired. The challenge that represented the hackathon of planet Jupiter allowed us to create an innovative solution for children's that will be able to interact with all the information that comes from the NASA in a didactic way and also will give them the opportunity to increase their curiosity in exploring this world by giving value to the children's knowledge.

The main focus of this project is that the children can have more valuable information from planet Jupiter and also to generate a huge impact in the society as we speak of new learning ways that the children can be able to acquire resulting in an increase curiosity for science.

Time was the biggest challenge we experienced during the hackathon therefore we decided to make a task division that can help us to determine each task delivery deadline so we can complete the project on the expected date, another challenge we experienced was the lack of some information from planet Jupiter so we decided to gather as much information as possible so we can be properly documented to provide valuable information in the development of the challenge.

As we wanted to share quality information the quoted resources gave us valuable information that were properly reflected in our challenge with that being said we are grateful for this opportunity.

By last, we would like to give a special acknowledgement to the Space Apps that gave us the opportunity to test our skills in a way that lead us to generate positive impact into society, with that being said it is really important to state that the team work demonstrated was really important and all the dedication, commitment and determination was important in the development of this project.
