Ice Box vs. Global Warmer
High-Level Project Summary
In this project we created a superhero named Ice Box. He is an Android with the superpower of cooling down our Earth by absorbing carbon dioxide, and turning it to oxygen, just like the photosynthesis of plants. Ice Box also has the superpower to quickly lower the temperature (freeze) to mitigate environmental issues caused by global warming like glacier melting.We also created a supervillain Global Warmer to represent the excessive Carbon Dioxide releasing and global warming effect, and a comic about Ice Box fighting Global Warmer to save our planet.

Ice Box the Super Bot
Superpower:
- Photosynthesis: convert carbon dioxide (CO2) to oxygen (O2) and store the energy like plants on Earth.
- Freeze: lower temperature rapidly.
"Original Hand Scratch"
Hello! My name is Icebox! I was created by IceLab Inc. to fight Global Warmer, an evil robot who wreaks havoc all over the world by releasing carbon dioxide into the air and setting things on fire. Here are a few things you might want to know about me.
1. I have lots of cool parts including a camera, headlamp, antenna, name tag, hatch, spring, and a pair of wings.
2. I love the environment and I try to cool down the earth whenever I can.
3. My friends include an ecobot, two spacebots and dozens of animals.
Global Warmer the Supervillain
Hey! My name is Global Warmer! I was created by Methane Inc. to wreak havoc by releasing CO2 into the atmosphere, setting things on fire, and widening holes in the ozone layer. Unfortunately, there’s a robot called Icebox who’s doing the opposite! Here’s some stuff about me.
1. I have lots of evil tools, such as sharp blades, spiked wheels, and spikes. Ouch!
2. I have a pet cow named Gassy. Every time he farts, he releases tons of methane (natural gas) into the air!
3. I am physically unable to smile and am so angry. I'm on fire! That’s why I have no friends (except Gassy, of course.)
The Adventures of Ice Box
1. “Gassy!” Global Warmer calling his pet.
2. “Get on your jet pack! Ice Box is helping another glacier!”
3. Global Warmer and Gassy are on the way to the glacier in Montana.
4. In the micro world, Carbon Dioxide and CFC-11 is destroying our environment.
5. Our superhero Ice Box is repairing melting glaciers in Montana.
6. Ice Box is shocked by how serious the glacier melting is.
7. Ice Box used his superpower to cool down the Earth.
8. He absorbed carbon dioxide (CO2).
9. Abstract the carbon atom in carbon dioxide.
10. And release oxygen.
11. The supervillain Global Warmer is here to make trouble. He released lots of carbon dioxide, set plants on fire to raise the temperature.
12. Ice Box is shocked by the damage that Global Warmer is causing.
13. Ice Box changed his hand to a freezing ray device.
14. - 15. He cooled down the temperature.
16. Ice Box also freezed Global Warmer and his pet Gassy the cow.
17. - 18. Ice Box will use his superpower to convert carbon dioxide (CO2) to oxygen (O2). With the reduction of CO2 and other greenhouse gases, global warming will be defeated.
19. The end!

Hackathon Journey
It was a very fun and educational journey for our Space Apps hackathon project. Through creating a superhero figure Ice Box, who has superpower to fight global warming, we learned about how serious global warming is by searching the data through NASA’s database, and we need to fight together to cool down our planet.
Our approach is not only to personify one of the Earth’s abilities Photosynthesis into Ice Box the superhero, we also create a supervillain Global Warmer to represent the excessive Carbon Dioxide releasing and the greenhouse effect. We created a comic strip about Ice Box fighting Global Warmer to save our environment.
