OUR TARGET AUDIENCE:

Our target project is aimed at teenagers from all over the world. Especially, to those who may think science is only for men, or think is something boring, to those dreamers who dream of saving the world with science. And to those minorities who are underrepresented and dream to become a superhero or superheroine. Also, our target project is for everyone to needs inspiration and want to collaborate with the world.

WOMEN IN SCIENCE, WHAT IS HAPPENING?

If we asked a child to illustrate a scientist, he or she can draw a male scientist, and for what reason? It is wrong? One of the main reasons is that there is not much female participation in science. Because there are a lot of social stigmas in some countries that think that science is only for men and not, it is not bad for men to participate in careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). But a balance should be sought, so there are equal opportunities for both genders and all people regardless of social class or origin.

Also, less than 30% of the world's researchers are women. (UIS, 2019)One of the factors is that from their young people are taught that women in science aren't careful people with their physical appearance and bored. In addition, they only highlight Marie Curie as a female reference in science. However, many women deserve this recognition, as they fight against gender prejudice.

OUR MISSION AND KEY MESSAGE

The mission of our team is to let younger generations know how special our planet is and how important it is to know how to take care of it. The power of magnetism is linked to the Earth's magnetic field, which is the only one of its kind in the entire solar system because. Thanks to him, life would not have developed as we know it. To this day, we must feel special because Earth has such an important ability. In addition, molecular control is implicit in the fact that the Earth has the peculiarity of being the only place where life has been able to develop. It is our mission to protect and care for this special place throughout the universe, as well as to teach the little ones about this situation.

On the other hand, another important point in our mission is to inspire girls to actively participate in science-related issues through this female character. According to information from Microsoft, 1 in 2 girls who have a role model can be seen working in a STEM career (Microsoft, 2018). That is why we have decided that our character is a heroine, making her break with the gender roles and stereotypes forged over the centuries.

REVIEW OF THE HISTORY

After overwhelming events that lead to the degradation of planet Earth, or perhaps also due to the innate curiosity of the human being. A secret world entity decides to bring together a group of scientists from different countries so that they can perform multiple tests on rigorously chosen people with the aim of granting them extraordinary capacities that can contribute to the sustainability of the global environment. Among the dozens of people chosen were Darling Rojaz and James Brutt, two childhood friends who, by chance of fate, met again in this voluntary participation.

The experiment yielded results of all kinds. In many people it did not generate any effect and others had slight physical damage. However, only one person, Darling Rojaz, came out of the room with superhuman abilities that completely destroyed the experiment room. Fortunately, no one was hurt after that lack of control. The powers that Darling acquired consisted of the control and creation of magnetic fields. She was practicing long weeks in mastering her skills accompanied by her good friend James hers, who after that same time gap began to look more down and weak.

The climate crisis also caused humanity to be subjected to a cloud of depression and alteration, so the scientists agreed that Darling be presented to the public, but this would only happen under a new identity. From that moment on, she was called O’Sapphire and quickly gained the esteem of the people. With her new skills, she began to travel around the world fighting against environmental pollution, deforestation and supporting governments in recycling policies. She, with her molecular control abilities, collected the bottles from the oceans to return them to her base state: sand.

O'Sapphire was very useful to governments because she helped promote recycling policies, as her striking figure and her charisma helped people to become aware of these issues. Throughout the world, she helped inspire millions of children, especially girls, to be actively involved in environmental issues. In addition, her awesome ability to create and control magnetic fields was of great use in recycling space debris. Many pilots report having seen it flying through the lower atmosphere collecting garbage and depositing it in recycling centers. All this, added to her beautiful smile and her great intelligence, made her the most popular celebrity in the world.

However, while one receives a blessing and affection, another suffers decay and forgetfulness. James Brutt's health worsened as the days passed. The treatments he received from the scientists were useless and they seemed indifferent to his despair. Of course, everyone was totally focused on the new heroine who had given humanity hope. In addition, since O'Sapphire had become a public figure, he had limited communication with her family or loved ones, himself included.

James Brutt received allowances and a wealthy department as compensation, but that meant very little to him if he could barely take a few steps without feeling fatigued. In the winter months, where people often use a lot of electricity, James suffers an accident that causes third degree burns. However, far from feeling hurt, he realizes for the first time in many months that his body is as incredibly normal as it used to be, even better ...

That's why James Brutt started raiding power plants, setting fires, and unleashing any form in which energy could manifest for him to absorb. One day, while he was raiding an oil shipment on the dock of a Mediterranean city, he unleashed a huge explosion never before seen in those parts. The explosion consumed everything except him.

IT'S SMOG !! -shouted the terrified people as they saw our infamous character with his scars on his body and his look full of hatred. From that day on he began to use that name to commit his misdeeds.

Faced with the danger posed by the presence of Smog, O'Sapphire was forced to defend humanity. During her fight there was an intense encounter of emotions. The evil Smog has tremendous hatred towards the people who put him aside and discarded him because of his condition. Also, he resents our superhero for not supporting him despite being very good friends before. They clashed in a forest in the Amazon next to a hydroelectric plant, where Smog had prepared explosives in advance. Seeing O'Sapphire, Smog made harsh criticism of his worldview. His hateful words emanated from him as he absorbed the energy from the destroyed power plant and pointed it at our heroine.

O'Sapphire, seeing that his partner is apparently beyond redemption, decides to put a definitive end to him and the excessive destruction caused by his ambition, to do so he manipulates the Earth's magnetic field to direct the solar wind on Smog, however, Far from being the coup de grace that she expected, the solar wind strengthened him, in this way Smog saw that he did not need to consume the finite resources of the earth to satisfy his need for energy, but could receive it from the virtually inexhaustible source that is Thus the sun found the perfect way to satisfy its hunger, from then on it obtained its energy from the solar winds, protecting the earth from them.

For the development of this project we have investigated the processes that make our beautiful planet unique. In addition, we have corroborated the information in different information sources: university databases, YouTube channels and, especially, in the databases of space agencies such as NASA and ESA. After that we discussed and debated which one could best fit our story on the MIRO platform.

Finally, we chose to choose the magnetic field as the main superpower because it is one of the main elements that make possible the correct development of life on our planet.

Additionally, this capacity will allow O'Sapphire to assist with the recycling of non-renewable material.

This challenge has been an exciting experience, mainly due to time pressure. This has been overcome thanks to the good organization of time, collaborative work and the camaraderie forged in the days before the activity. In addition, for many, it has been a starting point in the development of editing skills and character creation. By choosing this project, we were motivated by the idea of ​​being able to exploit some skills that we have, and above all to collaborate with fun learning. Likewise, our project is focused on all the great dreamers of being able to become a superhero or superhero with the skills of science and of course, possibly in the future, work at NASA. We solved some mishaps with team communication, we emphasize that communication can do a good job. Finally, we infinitely thank our parents for their continuous support since they found out that we were going to participate in this contest and, also, to NASA for organizing a very important event that integrates everyone.
