Detailed Project Description
This project is to make an interactive, knowledgeable and fun game to get prepared to go to Mars. To match this year's theme, “The Power of Ten", my project name is "10 steps to Mars".
The game starts with a welcome message from an Astronaut. The user is presented with 10 Steps required to get ready for the journey to Mars. The user can start the journey by clicking the Start button.
The Astronaut gives the instructions in each step and the game user can follow those instructions to continue the game. Some steps are informative and some are interactive fun activities.
The user can pause the game at any step and go back to home by clicking the Home button. They can go to any step they want by selecting the particular step from the Home screen.
The following are the 10 steps, that the game user can follow:
- Introduction - an intro to the Game
- Interesting Facts - Informative facts
- Challenges - learn about the challenges involved in Space travel
- Risks - learn about the Risks involved in the space travel
- Hazards - know more on the hazards
- Plan - interactive and users chooses the items they need in planning
- Train - interactive training required for the space travel
- Practise - interactive practice of the activities for the travel to Mars
- Prepare - the final preparations for the travel to Mars
- Go to Mars and back - It's time to take off.
We used Scratch for developing the Game. The images used in this game are either available in Scratch or drawn by me. A website has been created for the Game and linked to the Scratch.
The data is collected from the NASA and other reliable sources. The links are provided in the relevant sections.
Due to the limitation of the time (only 2 days), I have implemented the game functionality, with as much code as possible. The links need to be included in the lists on each step. This game can be extended with more features, articles and fun activities.

Hackathon Journey
I started my NASA Space Apps Challenge in 2020, as a 11 year old with my interest in Space Science. I was very happy in receiving "GALACTIC PROBLEM-SOLVER" award for my submission. It was great learning experience and I participated with the help of my Dad.
This year I have taken up the challenge "THE TRAIL TO MARS: CAN YOU KEEP YOUR CREW ALIVE". This is an interesting topic as it requires a lot of research and know what exactly required for ourselves to prepare for a Space travel.
As this year's Space App Challenge theme, "The Power of Ten", I planned to develop an interactive game using "10 steps to Mars".
We did research on the resources provided and in the web. Collected as much information as needed, to make the game players on getting interest on the Journey to Mars.
I would like to thank all the researchers at NASA and Space scientists all over the world, working seamlessly to keep our steps closure to the Mars.
