High-Level Project Summary
Have you ever dreamed of being part of a space journey? Well now, thanks to Artemis 24, an inclusive and educational game, it can be possible. Along your journey, you will be able to learn more about how various things work, for example, how communication between the Moon and Earth is made. Not to mention that you can really feel part of the crew while you're fixing an instrument or helping someone injured!Let your dreams come true and embark on this adventure! 🚀

THE PROJECT IDEA
My project is aimed at teenagers from all over the world, mainly from high school. Artemis 24 is a game that seeks not only fun but also knowledge in various areas. When I thought about this proposal, the first thing that crossed my mind was to take the opportunity to answer the questions we all have but we don't know where to look for answers.
What do astronauts eat in space?
Where do they sleep?
How much radiation do they get?
And simpler questions: How do they communicate with Earth?
So, I created an area on the game platform where the user can access materials on subjects discussed throughout the game's history or similar subjects.

However, there are several games in the current world, so I tried to think about factors that will be different and will make the player more immersed in the narrative. Thus, one of the ideas is when the user creates his character he will be able to choose his spacial uniform (which only differ in colors) and which pronoun he wants to be called throughout the game. This idea seeks to make everyone comfortable, accepted and equal! With clothes, we see that everyone is equal and there is no sexualization of women (present in many games). And with the pronoun, we have the inclusion of non-binaries in the game world to make them feel accepted in this reality.

Another idea I had was to tell the player's story, his past, his inspiration and how he ended up in a spaceship. For that, I used one of the most brilliant women I've ever read about: Mae Carol Jemison! By using it as the inspiration for the character's dream to be an astronaut, we have not only information that will make the player feel part of the narrative, but ,most importantly, a female representation in the science world!

PROJECT GOALS
With this game, I hope to inspire people of my age to get into the science world and get to see learning as something fun. All over the developing process I always thought: "Would I like to play this game?" "How my friends would react to this game?" and those thoughts made me improve! I wanted to create a game that would be both fun and educational, so everyone would have a nice time learning.
Personally, I'm someone that is very curious, but I never knew where I could find trustfull answers. So, I think that, with this game, people would have the acess to amazing researches from NASA and would be more excited to find out even more!!
PROJECT DEVELOPMENT
As the developing time was pretty short, I chose to do the game design with Figma. I did only some of the screens that the game will have, so people could see how did I pictured the game in my mind. I'm gonna keep working on this project, so, one day I will have the true game and let people try it out.
THE GAME
About the game history, it starts with a introduction that says that the character wants to be an astronaut since he was young, because of Mae Carol Jemison that inspired him. As a grown up, he finally got the chance to make his dream come true. He is gonna be on the Artemis Plan!! So, I put a small video of a launch to show that the game will start with him already in the spaceship. Consequently, the game happens in the future.
Along the game, the player will have to deal with a lot of issues in the spaceship or in the crew. For solving them, he will have to play some logic game, such as puzzels. As doing it, he will unlock materials in their 'library', so he can learn about it.
There are a lot of actions he can do, like:
- Eat
- Sleep
- Read
- Clean
- Fix instruments
- Take care of a sick crew member
- Call Earth
- And a lot more
After this amazing journey, the player would get back home as the hero he always wanted to be! Of course, it would have a lot more work and challenges in the way back home.
IN THE FUTURE
My plans for this game is to have 3 different levels, being them:
Nivel 1) Going to the moon
Nivel 2) Being in the moon
Nivel 3) Going home
All of them would be full of amazings and differents challenges and knowlegdes. In the end of the game, there would be a video showing the character receving a medal and being the Star he almays dreamed of being.

Space Agency Data
As I did my project on Figma, I chose to use photos, videos and audios in the developing process (Links in the References). Also, as the game is educational, I got some of the NASA researches for the game library. So, as the players solve the logical games they'll unlock the links for those researches.
As for the preparation and pre-study, I have to say that the NASA datas were amazing searches of knowlegde. I'm someone really curious but I didn't know were could I find the informations I wanted. So, I was facinated when I found out that NASA release so many public studies and researches! There are so many thing I want to learn and now I know where to go!

Hackathon Journey
To be honest, I was really scared of this Hackathon. As it's a NASA project I thought I wouldn't be able to do anything but I couldn't be more wrong. Being part of this Hachathon made me meet new amazing people that taught me so much! I'm honored to be part of this and I hope I have time to do it all over again next year!
Eventhough I did the project on my own, I exchanged knowledge with friends and I learned how to receive criticism and learn from them to do an even better job. I also realize the importance of organization as the time was pretty short and I had to be sure I could do everything on time.
As I already said before, I'm someone that likes to learn new things and try new experiences so this is the reason why I chose this challenge. When I read the propose I knew I had to do this. I knew I had to create a game where I can actually learn insteresting things. I had so much fun while doing this project either by searching for the perfect photos, reading, seeing colors, training my English or meeting new people.
