High-Level Project Summary

Cosmonauts is a 2D game designed to entertain and teach young people about life in space. It provides a fun way to learn how astronauts live while in space and what difficulties, challenges, and dangers they face while in their travels.The goal of the game is to provide players with simple tasks that simulate what someone travelling to the moon or Mars may do. This way, they can get familiar with how challenging being in space can be. All of the different tasks include information in-game as well as resources to external sites.The game is important because it's a dynamic and interactive way to learn. Apart from that, it can be an inspiration for kids around the world to get involved.

Detailed Project Description

The project uploaded is a beta or demo of what the full game would be. The scope of the game would grow overtime to include extra features like different crew members with varying professions, multiplayer compatibility, different lengths of trips, different challenges depending on the difficulty selected, and so much more.

The main benefits are it's potential for

growth, polish, and collaboration.

What we seek to achieve is a fun, relaxing,

yet challenging game that provides the player with many hours of gameplay to

make them learn.

We used Unity and C# to develop the game.

Hackathon Journey

As a group we had a really good experience designing the game and learning all the problems that an astronaut must face in space. We were inspired by learning more about the space and at the same time creating a game where we can teach young people how is the life on the space. For us it was entertaining to create and design our own spaceship and at the same time do research of how a real spaceship is on the inside.


Our first approach was to develop the game concept, by talking between the team members about what we wanted to create, what will be the existing rooms on our spaceship, how we will distribute the work, and others. Then, we decided to do a 2D game and start having fun creating it. :)


Our biggest challenge was the time, we decided to create our own backgrounds on the game and create this cool idea on only 48 hours. We wanted to create a tasks game where the character had to keep alive, take care of his health and take care of the spaceship since it is will be his new home on the next 3. But all the effort that we as a group put in the game were rewarding after watching how the astronaut moves and interacts around the ship and makes us think that all those hours designing, preparing and coding the game were worth it.
