The Next Journey: Mars

High-Level Project Summary

We developed an educational game specially aimed at teenagers age 10-14. According to the objective, we included the health risks that astronauts face such as loss of muscles, radiation, weightlessness. Not only that, we also acknowledge the importance of mental health of astronauts. As for loss of muscles, we encourage astronauts to exercise more to counter the effect. Astronauts wear specially made spacesuits to block harmful radiation rays. As for mental health, we ensure that astronauts keep a journal and write diaries everyday. This allows astronauts to express themselves. Both physical and mental health are equally important, and thus, our project uses a fun way to educate teenagers.

Detailed Project Description

We used the Scratch platform to build the project. It is a way of allowing teenagers to understand the hazards during space journey. We use simple words to explain the complex issues in space. We hope to let more people to get to know the life of an astronauts and understand that it is actually not an easy job.

Hackathon Journey

This is a great experience for me and our team members. I learned that it is not easy to be an astronaut and it imposes a lot of hazards. I thank all astronauts who are willing to explore space even though it may be dangerous. Thank you.
