High-Level Project Summary

There is a 3-level game and a training phase. In the training stage the players will be able to acquire the basic knowledge for the development within the game. In the event that a daring player heads straight for level one and did not check the fuel level or at least the crew is on board; the ship will stop midway, returning to earth and destroying itself. In the following levels, it raises some challenges that could happen along the journey in addition to the challenges of settling down on Mars, such as landing and staying on the red planet.

Detailed Project Description

WHAT EXACTLY DOES IT DO?

It is a virtual game aimed at students of the secondary level (10-14 years) approximately, whose purpose is to be able to inform in an interactive way about the activities and risks that astronauts present when they travel to space.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

A 3-level game and a training phase are proposed as an optional level (level 0). Players will be able to choose between different characters that fulfill specific roles in a space journey from Earth to Mars. Within the roles you can find the commander, pilot and specialists.

Training Phase (Level 0): Players will be able to acquire the basic knowledge for development within the game. Because the training stage is not mandatory, the player will have problems from the start of the game.

Level 1: It covers all the stages of the launch of a space rocket. Players must be sure they have an adequate level of fuel, food and adequate equipment; depending on the chosen role. In the event that a daring player heads straight for level one and did not check the fuel level, the ship will stop halfway back to land and destroy itself.

Level 2: there are some challenges that could happen along the journey. For example, lack of physical activity; bad nutrition; etc. that could cause poor performance in handling the craft or a deficit in mental health. These problems could lead the player to death from hunger, sadness, stress, etc.

Level 3: the challenges of settling down on Mars are posed, such as landing and staying on the red planet.

WHICH HAS BENEFITS?

Interactively inform about the risks that astronauts present when traveling to space.

WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO ACHIEVE?

That more high school students are informed of the risks that astronauts present when traveling to space, the importance of this type of travel and how many and who make up a space crew.
