Detailed Project Description

Mission Mars is a game to be played online and easily accessible.

The objective is for the player to recognize which are the 5 main challenges of trips to Mars.

It is built on a simple technology such as Genially to facilitate access without downloading programs.

The work team is made up of two people, a graphic designer, and an English teacher.

We hope it will be helpful in learning about the challenges of missions to Mars.

The benefits of this game are that it is simple to use, it has an understandable language and anyone with the internet can access it without downloading anything.

Additionally, it is a self-correcting game, which allows the student to make mistakes and try again.

It is a multi-device game, it works on mobile devices and on computers.

The project evaluates the knowledge of the users about some important medical aspects that astronauts must face when they are in space. So, in this project, you'll see that users must answer a sort of question in order to complete the mission.

The way the project works is the following :

First, users have access to the main screen where the mission is explained.

Then, the game shows them the questions one by one, where they have to choose among different options.

Each time a user answers wrong a message is shown on the screen. it works as a formative evaluation and at the same time, users are playing and developing a mission.

Each time a user answers correctly the screen changes and the mission is in progress.

If a user completes correctly all the challenges, the mission is finished.

Space Agency Data

The biggest challenge was reviewing the documentation and summarizing it in a playable and entertaining product.

We were inspired by these NASA sources:

We were inspired by the videos of the 5 hazards to create a space mission to Mars with a diverse crew.

We chose in some parts the trivia resource.

Hackathon Journey

It has been a process of much learning and also of great tension.

We hardly have time.

We learned a lot from the missions to Mars and the use of new tools like genially.

We put special effort into the conceptual design of the game. We hope that children can learn from the challenges of missions to Mars with this game.

We would like children to be inspired to create solutions to these problems.
