Third Decade: Launch On Mars (Demo)

High-Level Project Summary

Our project is an educational game in which astronauts have to get from Earth to Mars and stay alive. Its purpose is to familiarize users in a playful way with the problems that astronauts have in space on the way to Mars. It is very important, in the modern world, to interest the younger generation in the topic of space exploration. This is best done in a playful way. Our project is aimed at combining learning with entertainment. The project demonstrates the problems that a person can face when flying to Mars. For example, health problems and technical problems. The game teaches the user how to act in certain situations.

Detailed Project Description

The game was created to familiarize children with the problems that can occur in space. The project is educational. It presents the process of getting an astronaut accustomed to weightlessness, interacting with all kinds of objects on the ship, getting to know life at the space station, collecting information about problems that may arise on the ship and methods of solving them, which can help in achieving the main goal of the game - a successful landing on Mars.

For the development of the project, the Unity engine was used, as well as the C # programming language.

Hackathon Journey

This was our first experience, we learned to work in a team, to distribute the time and responsibilities of each participant, delved into the problems of space and ways to solve them. Inspired by games such as Among Us, Starbound, Subnautica and Alien Isolation. We decided to try ourselves as game developers. We allocated the time and responsibilities of each participant to complete a particular task. We solved problems together and each offered their own solutions. We would like to thank the organizers for the opportunity to take part in the NASA SPACE APPS CHALLENGE and the mentors for their support and helpful advice in the development of our game.
