MultiTool

High-Level Project Summary

We developed a multifunctional tool that has a main body part and three different head parts. Astronauts can add the head they want to the main body. The purpose of our project is to help astronauts collect samples more easily. That way they could save time and gather more samples. This tool that we have developed helps the process to be quicker and more beneficial.

Detailed Project Description

In our researches, we have seen that tools that astronauts have been using aren't portable and could be much more efficient. So we came up with this project. We used SOLIDWORKS 2021, for designing the 3D models. It is a multi-featured space tool that will be used in research missions of astronauts. The tool is capable of gathering materials, digging, and separating different sizes of stones. The main body of the tool is built as a telescopic system. The length of the tool can be changed. The shortest length is 46 centimeters and the longest length is 1 meter without the head part. The head parts are each 15 centimeters. We believe that our tool will help future astronauts in their missions.

Hackathon Journey

We chose this challenge due to our interest in space and new planets. We decided that we'd be glad to be a part of these discoveries. While doing researches and working on our project, we had great fun. We brainstormed, shared our ideas and feelings with our team. We learned a lot from our researches but the things we learned about teamwork are more valuable to us.
