James Webb telescope

High-Level Project Summary

We developed an origami of the famous, soon to be launched, James Webb telescope. It shows us that the telescope isn't quite as simple as it might seem. Often times, visualising and imagining are keys for innovation, making art essential in science. Since it is important to educate oneself and others, we decided to take part in this art and technology challenge.

Detailed Project Description

We created an origami model representing the James Webb telescope, to help with our understanding of how the telescope's components interact and work.

A model can help people communicate their ideas by providing tremendous visual aid, and the origami model we created is no exception.

It can help with the comprehension of what the telescope's components are how they work.

We used colored paper, Styrofoam sheets,

glue, scissors, and our craftsmanship.

Space Agency Data

Using the NASA website, we have been able to study the different angles of the James Webb telescope, and apply this knowledge to build our project. It inspired our model by showing us the giant leaps in science, and the many things we can achieve in the very near future.

Hackathon Journey

Its was a great experience as it taught us many things. We learned the importance of teamwork, and of the amazing things humans have been making. The concept of the telescope is what inspired us to choose this challenge, due to the complexity of the James Webb telescope. Our approuch was to study the different parts of the telescope and divide the crafting of the parts equally among our team members. We faced small problems regarding the telescope components' varying sizes, but have been able to resolve them as a team. We would like to thank NASA for giving us and others the opportunity to prove that we are able.
